WM6 on TNZ Titan - Standard WM5 TNZ fallback file made

Hi all, i have unlocked my titan http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9093 (cheers lads, worked a treat) and updated using the Alltel WM6 upgrade ROM. Seems to be working fine but i would like the NZ radio and TNZ settings back, maby MMS (need to research) but i am unable to find a standard ROM for the TNZ Titan. Being that mine is history dose anyone have a dump of theres or know where i could acquire. I'm looking to build a ROM using the TNZ settings/radio, splash screen and the Alltel WM6 upgrade ROM for my fellow New Zealander's.

Edit by ImCoKeMaN:
Standard WM5 TNZ rom OS only (no splash or radio) has been dumped (thanks o_O) and been made into an nbh. It is available in my folder of the ftp at:
ftp://ppcgeeks:ezupload@ftp.ppcgeeks...RUU_signed.nbh
End Edit

If you don't have a way to go back to a current rom i wouldn't reccommend updating, but that being said. If i can get some time to work with someone that has a TNZ device i can dump the rom from it. Also there is already a Titan_2.14_OS.nbh in my directory on the FTP. With that you won't change your Extrom, splash, or radio. And if i can get the dump of a TNZ device it would be fully reversible.

Being a TNZ user myself I 'created' my own ROM. I took the Alltell one, used nbhextract to extract the OS and then nbhgen to create a new ROM file without the radio ROM.

If i had known there was just an OS update available then I would have gone with that, but hey how else do you learn things?

Works like a charm. Imcokeman, want to walk me through a ROM dump to help Steve out?

PS, steve are you a member of the Geekzone.co.nz forums as well? Your nick is familiar.

Also you cannot use MMS with the titan on the TNZ network. There is no support for the phone. You will just get the standard txt with a weblink that non-MMS capable phones get.

Hi bradstewart, would appreciate it if you could get a ROM dump, theres a guide to get a dump here http://www.modaco.com/print.html&cli...f=143&t=255064, (step2). Doesn't seem to work for me but might for you unless u know of a better way.

ImCoKeMaN: Is there a way to get a ROM dump (.nbh file) with all of the default carrier settings?

Pity i didn't do this last night before i flashed mine. Not a member of geekzone yet, might check it out.

Gutted, i should have just used your ROM, oh well, a good excuse to have a play. Customizing ROMS doesn't seem to be as easy as i thought, seems to be allot of info and tools around for older devices but not much on the Titan. I foresee a few late nights googling this week.

getting the rom dump is fairly tricky to figure out on a Titan if you haven't done it before, but if i can work with someone that hasn't already flashed the device i can walk them through it pretty quickly and easily. from there i'll still have to do a bit of nice hex editing to get the rom in working order, but i should be able to do that fairly quickly as well now that i've dont it already. If you have flashed your titan then the info we need is already gone.

Anyone with a telecom device that hasn't been flashed should stop by the chat (link on top of website) and ask for me.

Thanks

So I take it that even though my Titan works perfectly on the network it still won't be of any use?

Yep, once you install a new OS the old one is gone forever. I think the OP said his works fine too, but there just isn't a way to go back until we get some time with someone that hasn't flashed a rom yet.

Thanks ImCoKeMaN, are you able to walk brad through dumping the carrier extROM .nb and radio .nb files, at least ill have radio and the proper carrier settings. Ive figured out how to unbuild and rebuild a .nbh so I'm looking to use the WM6 OS.nb and the default .nb files from Telecom. Do you think there will be any problems as the default TNZ files were for WM5?, mainly the Carrier settings. Also, I've tried using pdocread to dump the image from my device but it doesn't work for some reason using the instructions from http://www.modaco.com/print.html&cli...f=143&t=255064. Do you use this tool? if not is there any good guides for the Titan?
