AE Button Plus - Long Press with OK Button

I emailed the author of AE Button Plus regarding the "Long Press" mapping of the OK button. Single, double and triple press mappings work perfectly. However, the long press does not work with the OK button. Here is what he replied back with:

Yes, this is a real problem. Unfortunately it is a system restriction: default WM5/WM6 button driver returns both "ok was pressed" and "ok was released" AFTER you depress the button only... So it looks like impossible for AEBPlus to detect if it was "long" or "short" keypress because these events follows one-by-one...
This worked on my old 700wx, but Palm modified the hell out of it and apparently modified that button driver as well.
