I had that same problem with the data staying on all of the time -- mostly with grayed-out arrows. I could never tell when data was being transferred unless i was staring at the screen. I don't have an unlimited data plan (Qwest doesn't offer one) so I was worried.

The stupidest thing fixed it. I removed HandySwitcher. Everything else is the same on my phone, just no HandySwitcher.

I didn't think that program even accessed data. Weird.

I guess my point is check all of the programs you have on the phone. It could be anything.

the 600 second timeout is changable, but i do not know if it is in the registry. i modify my connection parameters using rapiconfig.exe from the windows mobile SDK. search on it, you can grab an xml provisioning file from your phone, change that 600 second timeout and send it back to the device.

Hey thanks for spoonfeeding me like that. Your post lead me to a registry solution, turns out I had part of the solution earlier on. I posted it in the registry tweak thread. What a relief, I had given up on auto email altogether

sadly enough, tcpmp isnt recognized as a program that is actively using the bet connection, and if you have the timeout set to low, video will cut out when watchin youtube
