can i get the .cab from an .exe ?

there are several programs that only have a .exe.
i don't use windows or mac (use linux) so this is a pain.
is there a way to extract the .cab from the .exe ?
thanks

i know sometimes when you install the .exe on a windows machine, you can go to c:/program files/nameOfSoftware
and there are several cabs there. problem is, i don't know which.
there's often a wm5, arm etc..
any ideas ?

Well I'll let you in on my secret method, J/K

Hook up to activesync and start to install the the file from the .exe on your pc.

Let it get to the point where your 6800 is asking if you want to install

At this point the cab file is now on your 6800 in the following directory, just go there and get a copy and your set, there are a couple of other ways to do it as well

Windows\AppMgr\Install

.
Edit...Oh I guess I didn't realiize this probably won't apply to you with linux, but I'll leave here it in case somebody else needs to know. I remembered reading a post about this awhile back here is a link to the solution kind of, and check out the posts after this one too http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...7&postcount=13

Some .exe files can be renamed to .rar in Windows and extracted while others refuse to accept this method. You could try running the Linux version of rar and see if it will extract the file.

Other alternatives would be installing a virtual windows machine with VMWare which should work fine. Another option that might work is Wine.
