Here's a blurb I found about other Sprint Phones. I dunno if it's true in my case:
"While Sprint's Music Store/Player ("powered by Groove Mobile") will list all songs on the SD card, it fails to play any that reside above the first 1GB of space on the card, producing "Error M506". It also fails to play random tracks if some tracks have a long pathname (directory name length plus file name length), where "long" is approximately over 32 characters." I have a 2GB MicroSD with 800MB free. --James |

Just to chime in: I get the M506 error no matter what memory card I use. But if I do a hard reset then the music store works.
However, as soon as I install my usual batch of applications, the music store stops working and I get M506. I haven't figured out what the deal is. Rather then play musical chairs trying to figure out which app is causing the problem, I just stopped using the music store. Admittedly, not an ideal solution but I gather that the music store application just isn't very stable and it's the least useful of all the apps I install on my device. Hopefully they (whoever "they" are) bother to fix what should be a simple problem to fix. |

My answer: Stop buying songs (.koz format) from Sprint until they decide to fix the problem. Download mp3 songs and play them on the Windows Media Player, instead.
After realizing they are not making any money from the Sprint Music Store, they will fix the problem. Hit them where it hurts: their pocket book. We shouldn't have to put up with this. By the way, a "soft reset" normally clears this problem, but it seems I have to do it almost every day. |

Old Topic, i know. Before going to ROM 2.17 on my mogul, i didn't have this issue. Now that i'm at 2.17 i get the error every time, no matter what. Kinda sucks when us indirect sales reps can download $20 worth of stuff to demo to customers every month and not pay for it. It also makes the phone hard to sell when the sales rep, who's supposed to know the phone inside and out, can't even get his own phone to work right.
I never had this issue with the old rom... way to go Sprint.. |
