GOODBYE MOGUL! HELLO TOUCH!

GOODBYE MOGUL! HELLO TOUCH!

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/htc-touch/

I know this is not going to go over to well with some of you,
BUT I HAVE HAD IT!

HARD RESET with about 26mb of RAM, after install of applications, left with about 21/20mb in the course of 3to4 days
goes down to 17/16mb RAM for no reason (SKTools/MemMaid) nothing brings it back up to 21mab. As a result,
I have a very sluggish/constant soft reseting device
NO MORE!
In November, GOODBYE MOGUL! HELLO TOUCH! :P

PS: 128MB OF RAM!

And you know for sure this device won't have the same problems, or new ones?

I think you would still have the same issues, if not more. They are running the touch GUI on top of WM6.

Have you tried Oxios CloseApps? It frees a lot of RAM that even (SKTools/MemMaid) wont free

By the time the touch is in everyone's hands the mogul will probably have a working kitchen, And the touch will have nothing but launch problems... XD

That and no Keyboard = Lewse!

I have to admi t- it is tempting but - not really worth the purchase. If your going to spend money on a new device - get something substantially different.

I agree with Shaska - also remember - there are a lot of people working on porting the touch gui to the mogul and other wm6 devices. once that is done, I dont see an substantial differences other than the form factor (and the mogul is not that much bigger considering it has a qwerty keyboard)

I like the 128MB of RAM, I hate the lack of a keyboard.

I'd like some more specs

I really don't care about the touch shell but I would like a slimmer phone than the mogul. I do not use the keyboard so I don't care about losing that a whole lot.

I would like some specfics on the memory.

I'd like to know for sure - how much ram and how much rom - I've seen a mention of a change in memory but not a lot of specifics. I'm wondering if some postings are mixing up the rom and the ram.

HTC Touch, Blackberry Pearl
The HTC Touch was a surprise: this is a CDMA version of the model I reviewed a few months ago. The Touch is a keyboard-less Windows Mobile 6 phone with a special HTC-developed interface that lets you swipe your thumb up and down the screen to pop up application menus of big buttons. On the Sprint device, one of those menus is messaging - IM, communications manager, SMS, software store and mailbox - and the other is media - Sprint TV, Music Player, and Music Store. The music player is Sprint's Groove Mobile store, which uses tiny little type, so it's difficult to click on options with your fingers. (Fortunately, there's also a stylus.) The device also has a 2-megapixel camera and 128 MB of RAM.

The Sprint Touch has several big advantages over the GSM version, though. The processor speed is doubled: 400 Mhz as opposed to 200 Mhz. The modem is fast EVDO (software upgradeable to EVDO Rev A), not slower EDGE. When the Rev A upgrade comes, it will activate the built-in GPS, and you'll be able to use Telenav for GPS navigation. And this version of the device lets you pop up virtual 12-key and 20-key keyboards with buttons big enough for you to use your fingers, as opposed to the standard Windows Mobile onscreen keyboard with its tiny buttons (which is also an option.) Sprint didn't give a price for this gadget, but said it's probably coming in November.
