Write Protected MicroSD

First off, let me give the obligatory shout out to the members of this board, as they have made my first foray into the world of the PPC (Sprint Mogul) so much more enjoyable by answering every single one of my questions before I needed to ask them, and providing outstanding addons for my device.

I have owned a Mogul since the 27th of July, and am actually on my second. The first one had some issues with locking up randomly, even without any customizations. I had purchased a 4GB SanDisk microsd card for it, and it worked very well. However, things got weird when I got my second device. Since putting it in the new Mogul, I have been unable to write any data to it nor erase any files from it. I can't format it whatsoever. I have taken it out and put it (with various adapters) into 2 XP machines and a Mac, all with the same results - the format process quits with the message that the drive is "Write Protected". It is important to note that yes, I am aware that there is a switch on the side of some of the adapters that locks the drive and makes it unable to be written to/formatted - that is not the issue here.

I have been reading some stuff on the web tonight about devices that add their own write protection to flash media (to prevent pirating the OS files off of the device and onto others), and I wonder if that is what is going on here. Did my first Mogul write protect the drive, and make it impossible to format/write/erase on any other machine? I can access the 1.5 GB of files that I have written to the drive without any probs.

Sorry for the long post. It is, after all, my first. Any help you all could give me would be very much appreciated. I have tried a number of utilities and methods that I know of to circumvent this, and I can't. Thanks a ton.

If you checked the box to encrypt files placed on storage card that could be it. There is an option to do this in settings

Hey Big D5 - thanks for the response. No, that setting was not enabled on this Mogul, and I am 99.9% sure that I never monkied with that at all with the first one, either.

The crazy thing is that I can manually go in and delete almost all of the files from the card, either through browsing to the device when it is synced or through the phone itself. I can also use the "Flash Format" utility and it completes successfully, with the card wiped clean. However, as soon as I restart the device, all of the files are back. Cra-zee. If there were just some reliable way to blow away all of the data, I would be happy.
