aGPS not working, any ideas?

VZW, DCD 3.3.4 rom, DCD 3.42.50 radio...

I can get googlemaps to locate me, but it takes a good 4-5 minutes for it lock 4 or 5 satellites. I tried applying the aGPS "fix" but it seems like its not working. Any ideas? I have a full data plan. thx

Re: aGPS not working, any ideas?

Ok, now that I have the aGPS working, what happens if I go into an area that has no cell coverage? Does the GPS mode fall back from aGPS to regular GPS? I only ask, cause I go out riding in the desert and use my phone to track my rides.

Re: aGPS not working, any ideas?

You will completely lose gps. You must then disable agps in at least the registry for get standalone gps.

And I assume I would do that by editing:

HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS from 1 to 0

Correct?

Is there a way to create a reg file that will modify this for me, like call one aGPS1.reg and another called aGPS0.reg that way all I have to do click on those edits rather then going into a reg editor and changing it manually?

Thanks for all the help!!

Yes that should hopefully be enough. I would assume you could make a reg file to do this but I don't know how

Here are two cabs, one to turn on and one to turn off. You can install and reinstall with no issues, promise. This cab is one key:

Serf EnableAGPS on.cab is HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS = 1
Serf EnableAGPS off.cab is HKLM\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS\EnableAGPS = 0
Attached Files
File Type: cab Serf EnableAGPS on.cab (1.1 KB, 1 views) Click for barcode!
File Type: cab Serf EnableAGPS off.cab (1.1 KB, 1 views) Click for barcode!

Re: aGPS not working, any ideas?

I think the best way to do this is to adjust the GPSMode in the Registry and set it to GPSMode = 4.

The setting is located at HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\SUPL AGPS\

Even though most instructions online say to set GPSMode to 2.

I have found that GPSMode 4, hybrid mode, works great.

When you turn on your GPS it will connect at seem to get GPS data from the PDE server, and lock quickly.

If you don't have a data plan or can't get data, it will still get a GPS lock, just slower with no PDE server assistance.

It works great for me!

Cheers
