You are exactly correct. No need to wait 30 days on your claim for a new phone. Secondly, they wont send you a referb mogul because it is to new and there is none to send you. If you want to check to see if your phone is referbed or has been used at all or at any point in the phones life time, all you have to do is type in ##786# and that will bring up a screen that will tell u any and everything about your phones past. Manufacture date, referb date, data lifetime, timer(mins) lifetime etc. I just got my new mogul after adding insurance and claimed it 30 mins later. Had to do some affidavit paper because of the high price phone but it worked and got it for $50 bucks.
Some of this is inaccurate. Once the $7 insurance is placed on your phone, (if you didnt already have it on there) then 30 days is what you have to wait before you can use it. If that has changed, then its news to me and many others.

Refurb - It is very possible to receive a refurbished Mogul because there have been many returns of them. To say there is "none to send you" is not true. Once you do receive it, its within your best interest, as was posted, to check the lifetime of it and you'll know for sure.

Refurbs often times preform better than the one you had.

There was an insurance thread a little bit ago, breaking out the math on how it is better to put your $7/mo in a savings account or whatever.

Again, I say maybe if your phone is a $50 do-nothing piece of garbage that would make sense.

But with these PPC computers that still cost $500+ if you have to buy one - $7 is a no-brainer.

Especially if you are using this computer on the discounted SERO plan with unlimited data. (Much easier to make use of the data plan with these PPC's than a regular cell phone)

I've already dropped my mogul about 4 times (need to buy that rubberized skin!). Battery flies out and the little brittle plastic battery cover goes flying too - every time. If you've dropped yours you know what I'm saying. I imagine that back plastic thing is going to break or get stepped on one of these times.

For the wanna-be gonna-be Mogul owners out there reading this: I wouldn't even think of not getting the $7 insurance on these things. PPC-6700's are still selling for about $300 on ebay.

The red strip - A bunch of CRAP! The techs in the store are trained to find any reason to loose you to nothingness. Any reason to refuse. I have had 2 phones (Louisville KY - humidity city) both have had the strips turn red in a matter of weeks without ever getting wet and continuing to work! I am now facing replacing my replacement from my sweeting on the screen and it has stopped taking input and the battery strip is red. Damn. Another emotional argument...

I see you dug up an old thread...but I still have to ask: How is it that you have to replace your phone due to your sweating on the screen so heavily that it stopped working, yet you claim it never got wet? Must be a really bad case of the dry sweats.

It's in the upper right hand corner where the battery goes if you want to check. If you're having problems, you're best bet is to go through the insurance.
Additional things to note. There should be additional watermark stickers on the INSIDE of the phone. Don't bother lying about water damage by saying there was no sticker or whatever, no carrier accepts that as an excuse...
