I have used Cedit by Logical Sky at logicalsky dot com (new users cant post urls!). Not positive about the Linux style end of lines, but it worked for me:
FTP to PPC-6700 using TotalCommander from a FreeBSD webserver Edit using CEdit on PPC FTP back to FreeBSD server. CEdit does a good job of syntax coloring, at least for the PHP files I was editing. Not sure how it will work on WM6, my 6700 is running WM5. The latest update to the program resolved some issues with screen orientation. The author does offer a 15 day trial. Good Luck!

you can also transfer file using SFTP which is more secure than FTP.
here is software (however not free) zaSFTP: SFTP client for Smartphones and Pocket PC www dot zatelnet dot com/zasftp/main.php (replace dot with . ) |

I have used this. Not sure for the PHP, and EOL files, and no ftp. But, for those with good basic requirements, it works well for me.
