FLASHLIGHT APP 2.0 Nilisco and WoW (7/21)
3 Attachment(s)
Does anyone know if there is an application; or a shortcut I can put to access the flashlight on the Mogul? I really hate having to go into Camera (and then click on the lightning bolt)
**Edited by WoW** Added my Flashlight App.. the EXE in the app was written by Nilisco from XDA (THANKS!!!!) i just added a cab with a few options safety net etc... I take NO credit for the work that was done here! again we owe a great thanks to Nilisco! WARNING...Nilisco and I will not be held responsible for any damage this app may cause 1.NO LONGER NEEDS MORTSCRIPT 2.Includes 3 options. user controlled on off, 30 secs on, and 60 sec on 3.I recommend using the 30 sec on if mapping to a hard button just as a safety(AKA you wont leave it on in ur pocket for 5 hours and burn ur led up) 4. Pretty Buttons in ur Start\Programs menu Special thanks to Stroths for testing the app for me as well as fixing a thing or 2  VERSION 2.0 Changes 1.Now uses VJCandelaLite... 2.NO LONGER includes a 60 sec light. (if u want it on use the flashlight and turn it off with the same button) 3.You can now stop the 30 sec flashlight b4 the timer is up 4.much smaller Thanks to Cody for a bit of help ;-) |
i belive VJ is working o nthis vjcandela for all the other phoens does NOT work for the mogul keep ur eyes open someone will figure it out
|
If you go to Camera, settings (tool icon) and then go to the Flash Bolt Icon, turn Flash on, then hit OK, this turns on the "flash light" - so its got to be easy to hack. Till then, you can use it that way.
|
Yeah, this is one of my biggest wants for the Mogul. The camera method works, sure, but it's a slow and cumbersome way to accomplish it -- additionally, the light doesn't stay on for very long without you constantly tapping buttons on the phone.
Can't wait for a hack to surface. |
This hack has always been curious to me when people have asked it for it on devices..... do you really use it as a flashlight at times? I would never really think to do that.
|
yes, I have had my Mogul for about 3 weeks now. There has been MANY a occasion that I have pulled out the Mogul to shed some light. I was thrilled when I got the Mogul and saw that it had this ability (as the 700WX did not.)
It works quite well for a flashlight, suprisingly well considering it is within a phone! With that said, A program to fire off the flashlight would be awesome, and then to link it to some button shortcuts. ahh brilliance. Someone can do it, just do it already! |
I can't find the registry key for the flashlight anywhere. If anyone has any ideas, please share them.

ya coming from the sanyo MM-5600 I used the flashlight button on there A LOT. I would love to see a hack for this

It's been released
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...tml#post642536
Use the link above to get the app from pdaphonehome. The author just released a copy and it works great on my 6800. I have it bound to a hard button using AE Button Plus. |
thanks for the heads up stroths i made a little script so people can run it without having to use AE Button...
also made a cab for easy install |
Nice, simple, and works great. And since I have SPB Pocket Shell, all I have to do is tap the screen to run it.
Man...that is one heck of a bright light. |
hey wow where is the cab i cant find it
|
Found it on xda but does it put in on the enter button?

I cant seem to find it when i go to buttons it isnt giving me the option to assign flashlight. Dose it have to be in a specific folder?

Now how do we go about assigning this a halfway decent icon? I've got it pinned to my SPB Mobile Shell now, but it's that nondescript executable icon and I'd like something more attractive, not to mention descriptive.

Great app forks flawlessly thanks for posting

In PP, hold the stylus on the icon in question for a few seconds and menu pops up to change how it looks. Maybe it'll work for MS. |
I already tried that, but there doesn't seem to be any such option that I can find.

Thanks wow I havent tried using mortscript
|
dont need mortscript..
put it in windows/start menu/programs and map away. /sweet, precious, limited ram. |
Version 1 of the cab is now in post 1
|
The new cab looks nice. For those that haven't seen it, the end result is the 3 icons you see in the screen shot below. It's true you can use the app without this cab, but you are better off doing this so you don't accidentally turn the LED on and burn it out.

Thanks, this will come in handy :)
There's also a small edit you can make to VJCandela to make it compatible with the Mogul. Just open the VJCandela.exe in a hexeditor and search for the hex value of '24200090' and replace it with '14200090'. |

This is really awesome! I usually carry a LED flash light with me everywhere I go, I guess I don't have to do that anymore!! :P

Ok i figured out how to make the flashlight come on with a button. You have to install the cab file then move the program file (i used VJCandelaLite) to My Device/windows/start menu. Then highlight the program you want assigned and click menu/edit/copy Then goto my device/windows/AppButtons and click menu/edit/paste shortcut. Then exit file explorer, click start/settings/buttons and highlight the button of your choice (i used camera) With the chosen button highlighted "assign a program" from the dropdown menu (in my case VJCandelLite is now in the list) . I did a soft reset (not sure if this step is needed) then tested, the camera button now turns the flashlight on. (and off when hit a second time)
(I've had to mess with this a few times to get it to work ok, I hope my directions work for you) |

...or you can just assign it as a program in the HTC Home Launcher. |
If you install Threaded SMS after you install the flashlight app - the icon that the flashlight app uses is linked incorrectly to an icon from the threaded SMS app. If you uninstall both programs and then install threaded SMS first THEN the flashlight app you'll be back to good.
|
Im not having any luck, Ive installed the cab to the device and it shows up under programs. I can click the on and no light, also click on the gui icon and it shows up with the 3 icons, I hold on the fire and no light. Also ive rebooted the device and still nothing. Ive also made sure that the light does work in camera mode and it does. Any ideas?
|
So instead of possibly messing upyour led on yourcam.. why not write a hack to make the screen turn all white with the touch of a button and then touch it again and takes you back to the home screen... seems that would be better than messing up your led light... i mean heck this isnt a flashlight anyway but would help in a dark place temporarly...
