Ok i figured out how to make the flashlight come on with a button. You have to install the cab file then move the program file (i used VJCandelaLite) to My Device/windows/start menu. Then highlight the program you want assigned and click menu/edit/copy Then goto my device/windows/AppButtons and click menu/edit/paste shortcut. Then exit file explorer, click start/settings/buttons and highlight the button of your choice (i used camera) With the chosen button highlighted "assign a program" from the dropdown menu (in my case VJCandelLite is now in the list) . I did a soft reset (not sure if this step is needed) then tested, the camera button now turns the flashlight on. (and off when hit a second time)
(I've had to mess with this a few times to get it to work ok, I hope my directions work for you) |

...or you can just assign it as a program in the HTC Home Launcher. |

If you install Threaded SMS after you install the flashlight app - the icon that the flashlight app uses is linked incorrectly to an icon from the threaded SMS app. If you uninstall both programs and then install threaded SMS first THEN the flashlight app you'll be back to good.

Im not having any luck, Ive installed the cab to the device and it shows up under programs. I can click the on and no light, also click on the gui icon and it shows up with the 3 icons, I hold on the fire and no light. Also ive rebooted the device and still nothing. Ive also made sure that the light does work in camera mode and it does. Any ideas?

So instead of possibly messing upyour led on yourcam.. why not write a hack to make the screen turn all white with the touch of a button and then touch it again and takes you back to the home screen... seems that would be better than messing up your led light... i mean heck this isnt a flashlight anyway but would help in a dark place temporarly...
