I'm still having trouble doing this?? Can anybody help me out a little?

You need to remove the Read-Only attribute from the SPCS_Startup.gif file located in your Windows directory on the device.

After doing that, I'd reccomend copying that file so you have a backup in case you want/need (when you go in for service) to put it back.

After backing the file up, choose your new splash animation... let's say the Transformers file for this example.

Save the Transformers GIF to your computer and rename it to SPCS_Startup.gif and then copy it to your device's Windows directory. When it asks you overwrite, say yes.

I have not done this, but that should cover it... if I missed something, please someone correct me!

New to the scene, I likes the tweaks you placed up with the sliding sounds.. I'm doin my own wit scarface theme.. The only issue that i\'m currently having is the Read Only part with the TOTAL COMMANDER program.. Once i've highlighted SPCS_startup.gif and when i touch FILE, PROPERTIES and UNCHECK the box on read only and touch ok once check mark is off.... and my friends it goes back to the SAME with the check mark. I must have done this about 20 times and clicking on change as well and no luck so far.. Can any 1 please info me if i\'m missing a step or the TOTAL COMMANDER i got is not working.. PLEASE HELP OUT

I couldn't remove the read only attribute either, so I simply changed the registry entry on my device. Make your splash screen, copy it over to the device (I put mine in \windows), then fire up a registry editor and go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation and change the GIFFile value to the path and name of your new animation. For instance, in my registry, instead of the GIFFile value being "\Windows\SPCS_startup.gif", mine is "\Windows\SPCS_black.gif"

I was told to place the file into win and paste it in the PC but where do i find that i looked all throughout the reg. I'm lost now im about to hard reset and start all over again. Any feed back? I just tried that to msisaac... I did the name change on reg and copied file to windows in device, is there a limit to kb? and i also changed the wav for it to and no go afetr doing the soft reset. The properties are still in the reg i checked. Im almost to the point of giving up and I tried do do all in here i'm truly greatful wamu.. WHAT AM I DOIN WRONG!!!
