microphone no worky

been searchin a bit, cant find answer to my problem. not sure if my son messed with my phone cause i found it in a different spot and the stylus was out and busted. anyways seems that since then when i try to make calls no one can hear me, went ahead and tried to record a note using the mic and it come out with nothing but wacky static, and when i call people thats all they hear. anything i can do to fix this or should i just pay the 50$ for the insurance replacement?
