Is Sprint still giving out refur'ed MOGULs?
 

My phone is dying but i don't really want the Mogul again.
Just wondering if they still have old moguls in stock or are they giong to upgrade?

Should I do an insurance claim now or should I wait?

Check online. Sign into sprint.com and start an advance exchange. It will let you know what device you will be receiving. If it's a Pro, continue. If it's a Mogul, cancel and try again later.

I am not seeing the option for advance exchange after I sign into sprint.com

I did a google for sprint exchange and I got this page, but it tells me to go into a sprint store.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that you have to put in a random zip code where there is no Sprint store nearby. Use a zip in North Dakota or something. That will get you in. You had the right site though.

That's weird. I have stores near me but it still let me do an online exchange. Right now I'm just trying to get my Mogul back to stock so I can send it back.

What settings are you entering into the site for them to allow you to do an exchange online even with stores nearby?

edit: I used a zipcode from north dakota as suggested and they're still replacing with the mogul. d'oh.

I'm waiting for the right time to attack. I have been dropping by my local Sprint store and they still have the Mogul in their display. I guess I'll wait till they rid their stores of the Moguls first, then I will attempt to get a replacement.

Sprint is sending me a phone in the mail tomorrow... If it is a 6800, how do I know if it is refurbished vs new?

Type in ##786#. It will bring up a Reverse Logistics Support page. There is a Refurbishment Status and Refurbishment Date field.

I went to the site listed earlier and was never asked for a zipcode. They offered me another 6800. There isn't anything drastically wrong with my 6800, and it's been out of the box for a month, so I p*****.

They sent me a refurbished model today in the mail.. I honestly have a thing about refurbished items, so I am going to bring it back to the sprint store...

Why? I've had many refurbished phones that worked flawlessly. It's part of the insurance. You are not entitled to brand new replacement devices, but you may luck out if they are out of stock of refurbs.

I have only had 2 messed up refurbs out of all the many refurb Moguls and Apaches I've had.

Good News for everyone. last week I claimed insurance for my broken 6700. They sent me a referbished 6800 the screen had a white spot on it. Today I called them to have them send out another 6800. well they just told me they dont have many 6800 left so if I want they will send me a new touch pro instead.

I chose the new touch pro... yea for me....lol

I just tried that no. and they were going give me a refurb. mogul for $50 so I say no. How can they be in-stock so quick?

and since I called them, they say now I have an open case which will last 60 days, after which if I want to replace it under the same reason they will not approve it. damn it!

It seems to be very hit and miss with sprint having refurbished Mogul's in stock. One call you might get the refurb, another call it will be a touch pro, diamond or treo 800w offered depending on what is in stock.

I had to do a claim on a mogul 1/20 and they sent a NIB treo 800w, yesterday another of my moguls was lost and they sent out a refurbished mogul.

I think it all depends on how many bad replacements you have had also to see if they give you a brand new device.

my son lost his mogul and asurion sent him a refurbished mogul that didn't work. i called back told them the situation and how i'm thinking that no matter what mogul they send me, it will have something minor wrong with it, they said no problem and sent my son a brand new, in the box, Touch Pro.

Man, I only hope I can get so Lucky :) I've been having nothing but problems with my Titan since I've had it really. I'm tired of it! LOL :P

well in my case I got one that wasnt right so they made it right. I even just asked for another 6800 and didnt complain. They offered me the upgrade... so the bottom line is if you get a replacement just find something wrong with it and you might have some good luck cause they want to make us happy....

my touch pro should be there when I get home.....

Just FYI, in early January here in Dallas, my Mogul's Send key stopped working. I took it to the Sprint store down the street and the guy was like "Sure we can get you a new Mogul since you have a TAP." Then he looked at his computer and said "Well, I don't see that as an option any more, you'll need to take your Mogul to the Sprint repair depot one town over. So I did that. They opened a repair ticket, the guy took it back to the service center, came back 30 seconds later and said, "Well, we do not have the parts to fix this for you - Come back in 2 days to pick up your new TP."

I have not looked back....

It was like Christmas came waaay early, and it's really nice to be infatuated with my phone again.

I had to do warranty exchange last week because the keypad stopped working (I couldn't hold out). Took it to the repair center and got another refurbed mogul. This one freezes while charging, so I'll wait till we're sure there's no more refurbed moguls and then take it back in for (hopefully) a TP.

my phone just crapped out as well, took it into the sprint store, they did not even both to want to fix it, they simply ordered me a new one, and the woman i spoke to at the store said they will deffinitly have refurbished phones for at least a year

I'm going to hold out for a TP as long as possible. My slideout keyboard is mostly dead (function key and various others), so I'm using the stylus and on-screen now.

I've been down this road several times now. First with Lock/Line and now with Asurion. I have a 33% success rate on receiving a 100% working refurb.

Here's what I've gone through:
A bad G1000 - DOA
A Palm 600 - Not DOA but not Windows Mobile to replace my G1000
A new 6600 to replace my G1000 - Success
A refurb 6700 to replace my 6600 - Success
A bad 6700 - Touch Stick Bad
A good 6700 - Success

Purchased a new 6800 which worked great for awhile and here's where it gets interesting
Bad 6800 - Wireless wouldn't work
Bad 6800 - Bad Wireless and Talk buttons
Bad 6800 - Bad Scroll Wheel - Didn't bother replacing because I finally got one that the wireless works. I've been dealing with this problem for 5 months now because I have no faith in TEP. It is a neuscence any time that I want to scroll a page or turn up or down the phone volume. It often time goes 2 down for every 1 up or vice-versa.

So now I ponder, if I try to get another refurb 6800, what will be wrong with it?

So, here we go again. I relented and took my 6800 to the Sprint store and they couldn't repair the scroll wheel. They ordered me a replacement phone although I don't know what kind. I hope that I get a fully working replacement for a change. ](*,)

While I was there, I looked at the TP and that thing is sweet. I'm doubtful that I'll get one of those but it would be nice.

I have the $7 insurance on my 6800. Do I have to pay anything to swap a non-working 6800 with a TP if they offer it???

With the TEP you pay $50 bucks if you broke your phone (got it wet/cracked screen) but if its a hardware issue (USB broke/Dead pixel) something you didnt do it just wore out or was bad from the factory they will replace it for nothing.
Side Note:
I was just at the Sprint store a week ago in Portland Maine and they still have brand new 6800s on display and are selling them for just a few bucks less than the T Pro and more than the Diamond.

how the heck is everyone getting TPs? ive been trying FOREVER to exchange my mogul for a TP.

i talked to a sprint rep about 2 weeks ago and the girl agreed to send me a TP and got me all excited and even said that it was backordered and would be sent once they were in stock.

a week later i received a refurb mogul. i was pi$$ed! i called sprint and of course they denied ever saying that they were going to send me a TP and that i was not eligible for an upgrade blah blah blah.

i should start recording their calls for my own quality assurance.

this is my 3rd mogul and frankly, im sick of it. at least there is a 1590 mAH battery instead of the 1500 one.

Checked the store here in Vallejo, CA today 2/18/09 and they have refurb moguls in stock through sprint. I didn't check the insurance company but I'm assuming they do as well. I'm gonna check as often as i can and post when I check. If anyone else wants to help out feel free!
P.S.
I have a large white spot on my screen and my 6800 is a new device, not refurb. I've heard too many complaints about these phones as refurbished units and don't want to deal with getting one that is in worse shape then the one I have now, so don't rip me a new azzhole about trying to commit fraud! :-)

I lost my phone new year's eve and since then have received 3! defective moguls from Asurion. I gave up on hoping that Asurion would send me a fully functional mogul. Their rep had the nerve to tell me that refurbs are better than brand new (I can understand why being that techs work on it and all) but I feel like they're not even testing the phones themselves before they send them out. My current phone, the keyboard doesn't work so I too am using the on-screen keyboard. I'll just wait to do an advance exchange through Sprint.com

So they sent you a refurbed mogul that didn't even have a functioning slide out keyboard!?

I'm just going to sit tight until I can either be guaranteed the TP or until something else major fails with my mogul.

wounder how long we have to wait until we are sure that sprint will be out of moguls so we do not have to worry about having to get another messed phone probably in worse condition then the one we are replacing... guess I'll hold out until I am for sure I'll get a TP
