1.Make 2 files 2_in.1.wav and 2_out.1.wav and copy to storage device.

2.Go into the Windows directory in the phone locate 2_in.wav and 2_out.wav, copy and paste them to the storage device.

3.Save original _in and _out sounds to computer.

4.Now using your phone copy the 2_in.1.wav from the storage device and paste in the windows folder. Now Change the name to 2_in.wav, refresh the window under menu and you are done. Do the same thing for the out file. your custom slider is now under the xelophone file.

After trying to edit registry with Total Commander for several hours, I threw in the towel and did it your way. Thanks. Also thanks to the xmentalx, my xelophone now sounds much better as a shotgun :headbang:
btw, my problem also involved not being able to find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

I never knew Total commander could edit your registry. For the future if you decide to try to edit a reg again try MeMmaid or a different Registry Editors found in Commonly requested & popular software/applications. I would recommend knowing how to do this. It comes in helpful for a lot of things. A lot of times you can just edit the reg rather than installing a cab and taking up more room.

Re: How to add your own slider sounds

I am using the newest rom (3.56) and I can't get it to work. I can't get the other way to work either (replacing the files), the factory files are protected. Is this all because of the new rom?

Re: How to add your own slider sounds

Solved, if you select (still in registry editting) "slidingsound" and select "ActiveSlidingSound" chnage the value to your new sound and OK it. It should take effect immediatly. I think soft resetting it still changes it back to normal.

Alright heres how you do it

step 1 get your 2 files, as far as i know they HAVE to be .wav files the shorter the better....

step 2 name the closing sound #_in.wav and the opening sound #_out.wav (where # is any number greater then 2 because 0 1 and 2 are taken up by the default sounds, i am assuming you can add as many as you want, and just keep them in the numerical sequence) and then copy them into your windows directory on the device

(now the registry editing begins)

step 3 browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > HTC > Sliding sound
and make a new key and number in sequence (so if this is your first it will be 3)

step 4 create a new string and set the value name as Default and for value data, name it whatever refers to your sounds

step 5 create another string set the value name as: in and enter the value data as title of your #_in.wav you made earlier

step 6 create another string set the value name as: out and value data as your #_out.wav you made earlier

step 7 (to make sure the reg edits stick) press the power button on your device on the side, leave it off for 30 seconds, turn it on, then back off and soft reset the device

step 8 go into your sliding sounds settings and apply your new sound scheme

ive changed the registry and it shows up in regedit but not in the sliding sound menu...how do i get it to stick and show up in the menu?
