Re: Touch Pro? Nah. I'll stick with my Mogul.

Very interesting comments. I knew there had to be a lot of people like myself debating back and forth on whether to upgrade.

At this point I have 8 more months on my current sero contract, and I have my phone on the full insurance program (TEP). I already had to have my mogul replaced in June last year because the data cord port stopped working (couldn't charge or sync).

I'm not hoping for this, but there is the possibility my phone could have another defect and when I go to get a replacement they give me a refurbed TP. That would be called a "forced upgrade"

If my mogul had a faster processor and 64-128 more megs of ram, I wouldn't give upgrading to the TP a thought.

Re: Touch Pro? Nah. I'll stick with my Mogul.

now that you mention overheating, my first TP did overheat like the diamond, but i had to get it swapped out for a different reason (chrome issues) but my second one hasnt overheated and my battery lasts about a day and a half with regular usage, mostly internet and two-three hundred text messages a day, email set to send/rec. every fifteen minutes, about an hour of phone calls a day. I suggest a spare battery but i get the same life out of my TP that i did with my Mogul.

Re: Touch Pro? Nah. I'll stick with my Mogul.

I love watching people try to convince themselves and others that they would really prefer to have their mogul over a TP. I would guess that in 97% of these cases, if you handed them a TP, they would take it and swap. This is coming from a previous Mogul lover and advocate. The TP is simply and improved Mogul and the "overheating" issues everyone refers to are A) overstated and B) mostly fixed by later build date phones. The earliest batches were the ones that did seem to be prone to this.

Keep deluding yourself, but I'm not sure why you felt the need to make a thread about it - seems juvenile ... LOL

Re: Touch Pro? Nah. I'll stick with my Mogul.

Free Sprint Touch Pro upgrade if you have a Mogul and are enrolled in the TEP plan. I think it's like 50-55ish if you aren't enrolled in TEP (TEP is $7/month on your bill). Placed my Order Monday at 7pm, will receive my Touch Pro today (Wednesday).

Re: Touch Pro? Nah. I'll stick with my Mogul.

The only thing that made my Mogul tolerable was No2Chem's page pool kernel. The memory issues were unacceptable. Can't overclock that bogus Qualcomm processor. The Apache was screaming fast. Loved it, but it wasn't just a brick, it was a CINDER BLOCK. The only place I've noticed the Mogul trumps the Touch Pro is GPS. The Touch Pro has a lag problem that is widely accepted as being a hardware issue. The Mogul with Shadowtech's Agps hack was a spot-on navigation device. The Touch Pro's keyboard is the bomb, the 5 full rows of keys is great. The VGA resolution is like night and day compared to the Mogul. You don't have to install Oxios and babysit your memory like someone with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Video out is nice, but I haven't taken advantage of it like I thought I would. But all in all, it's like Alpine- said, watching folks try to justify why they don't want a Touch Pro is funny. It's not perfect, but it's the closest thing to it right now as far as CDMA goes.

You're missing the point. If I could swap my Mogul for a Pro for free or a $50 deductable insurance claim I would. But I'm not willing to spend $200 bucks plus for a minor upgrade. Besides the phone I'd need to get a new case and extended battery. Plus I'd have to redo all my themes and icons and upgrade to VGA compatible programs.

The point is it's not a minor upgrade, I had a Mogul and I'll tell you the Touch Pro is light years ahead of the mogul, except for GPS like I stated previously.

Too bad the Omnia (VZW) doesnt have a hardware KB.
We all know the Verizon TP is a peice of junk. I looked at the Omnia my friends wife had and it was noce and resposive. Problem is the resolution is 240x400 or something like that. Meaning most software probably won't work. Plus I like to be able to cook my ROMs. I don't think anyone will be working on the Omnia.

Besides running faster, having a slightly better camera, a nicer looking screen and video out, what can the Pro do that my Mogul can't? I have no use for video out. I always carry a digital camera with me. My Mogul runs fast enough and looks good enough for what I need it for. So yes, the Pro would be a minor upgrade for me. I'm not knocking anyone for buying the Pro. I decided to spend the money I would have spent on the Pro on something much more important. Beer.

Re: Touch Pro? Nah. I'll stick with my Mogul.

Let's see, you just made my argument for me:

Runs FASTER.

Has a "slightly better" camera? Ask any Touch Pro user who used to own a Mogul. Pictures taken on the 3.2 mega pixel camera of the Touch Pro are infinitely better than the Moguls 2.0 mega pixel camera.

Video out is nice, but again, I don't call that a reason to upgrade, because I've only used it once myself.

Exponentially more Ram & Rom, two problems that plague the Mogul.

Battery life sucks on both devices in my opinion.

Minor upgrade versus major upgrade is a matter of opinion I guess. I consider these points major, and believe I made a MAJOR UPGRADE in switching from the Mogul to the Touch Pro. But if you're happy with the Titan, then more power to you.
