My Mogul is Bell device, but using Sprint's ROM Version: 3.56.651.0, i buy from eBay.
My phone can't receive over 160 text messages..
If I send any text over 160 char, other phone receive split of my text
Anybody know about EMS issues? Maybe ROM issues? (i plan to downgrade ROM version)

Re: EMS text messaging over 160 char

Sprint's ROM im pretty sure only accepts up to 160 characters in one message. If you type more it will split into how many you characters you write (160 for one 320 for two ect.) on the other hand if they text you with more then 160 their txt should also split into more then one. they miught not come at the same time or in the correct order but you should get all of them.

Re: EMS text messaging over 160 char

this is a known issue in pretty much all WM6.1 roms as far as i know. the problem is that the issue isnt necessarily coming from the rom, but from the messaging centers where your texts get sent before they arrive at your recipients phone. i thought i read somewhere on xda that one of dcd's roms, i think it was his beta, fixed this issue. they didnt say specifically but there arent any other sms issues besides this.

Re: EMS text messaging over 160 char

There is no fix for this, I just spent hours researching this.

I have a Sprint TouchPro activated on Verizon & my son has an XV6800 (Titan) on Verizon. My sons girlfriend has an enV & if she sends any text to my son that is over 160 characters, it splits it up & he only gets the first part of it.

He can send her a text as long as he wants however(or to me for that matter).

There are numerous threads here about these problems & no fix.

By the way, the Titan/Mogul do not support EMS

Re: EMS text messaging over 160 char

It is technically impossible to send or receive a text longer than 160 characters. This is the SMS spec. On sent texts, the Mogul will split up the message into multiple SMS messages. On received texts, it is up to the sender's phone to split the message up. If the sender's phone doesn't split up the message, their carrier is only going to get the first 160 characters, Sprint is only getting 160 chars, and your phone is only getting 160 chars. Blame their phone, not your Mogul.

That depends on what kind of phone you're using. Non PPC phones can certainly send texts longer than that.

When both my son & his GF had enV phones, they could send texts that where WAY over 160 with no problem at all (& they came all in one message)

Re: EMS text messaging over 160 char

No mort it is impossible. Wikipedia SMS if you want the technical details. Sure phones can break up a long message into multiple texts and then piece them back together on the other end. It may look like one long text but it is actually multiple messages. If your Mogul is only getting one cut-off message it's because of the sender's phone, not yours.

OK, maybe so technically. I can tell you that when they both used an enV that any message they sent to each other arrived in tact as one long text even if it was 800 characters.

The problem started when he started using my old Titan.. Now, he can only receive the first part of a message that the enV would have received just fine & there is no fix for it. He can send her long texts & they come in as multiple parts, but it doesn't work the other way.
