Infrared beam fails

Hi All,

Well this use to work but now it just fails. I am trying to beam a picture via infrared from my Mogul to my laptop and it fails. My laptop computer name shows up and it says tap to send but after about 20 seconds it comes up failed. I have tried with the box under settings, communications, receive all incoming beams checked and unchecked but still no luck. HTC says do a hard reset but I resist that lengthly mess. Any ideas? I need the infrared to communicate with lockboxes and that also fails. Is there a registry hack that might fix this? Since the Mogul will see the name of my laptop when I put it next to it to try to start a file transfer is must be kind of working but it's like the laptop or lockbox does not see the mogul.
