Infrared beam fails

Hi All,

Well this use to work but now it just fails. I am trying to beam a picture via infrared from my Mogul to my laptop and it fails. My laptop computer name shows up and it says tap to send but after about 20 seconds it comes up failed. I have tried with the box under settings, communications, receive all incoming beams checked and unchecked but still no luck. HTC says do a hard reset but I resist that lengthly mess. Any ideas? I need the infrared to communicate with lockboxes and that also fails. Is there a registry hack that might fix this? Since the Mogul will see the name of my laptop when I put it next to it to try to start a file transfer is must be kind of working but it's like the laptop or lockbox does not see the mogul.

Suggestions appreciated

Re: Infrared beam fails

As a follow on, I have looked through the registry under irda and infrared. There are a few settings so If anyone could post what their working IR settings are that would be greatly appreciated and I can give them a try.

Re: Infrared beam fails

Post what your registry directory paths are so I can look and see what the settings are. Also, I know if Im more than a few inches away from the other device and not perfectly lined up, it will fail.

Re: Infrared beam fails

Thanks for your help, here is what I found.

Registry search under infrared finds;

hkcu/comm/Rasbook/'infrared port
it has 2 entries with lots of numbers mostly 00's
Devcfg has as reg_binary
30 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 10 01 00
00 00 48 00 00 00 00 08 00 00 00
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
the 0 pattern repeats 60 lines

the other value Entry is also reg_binary

Whew! That was the big one, the rest are easy. There are a few listings for Default connections in HKLM/ comm but no entries.

hklm/drivers/nuiltin/ircomm/unimidem has
devconfig with the reg_bibary
01 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 10 01 00
00 00 48 00 00 00 00 08 00 00 00
00 00 00

then Device Type is 6
FriendlyName is Infrared Port
Tsp is Unimodem.dll

Then I also found under hklm/drivers/builtin/serial_ir
DeviceArrayIndex 1
DeviceType 0
Dll com16550.dll
FriendlyName 7500 IRDA
IClass B7-920C-486B-B08E-92A702A99B37
Index 1
IObase 1342210048
IOlen 44
IRQ 9
Order 0
Port Com1:
Prefix Com
Priority 0
Priority256 111

hklm/drivers/builtin/ircomm
Dll IRCOMM.DLL
Flags 2
IClass AC-BA49-48a0-BE17-DF6D1B0173DD
Index 3
Order 3
Prefix Com

Searching under IRDA I found
hklm/comm/irda
Autosuspend 1
Baud 38
DevAddr 27311
Hints 33316

and hklm/comm/irda/linkage
Bind Irsir1

I found some other entries for generic infrared modem and other items but I think the problem may be in one of these. I had issues with GPS a while back and someone posted their registry entries and that fixed the gps problem for me.
