tethering woes - usb and bt - it's a success after all!!

I have an HP 9000T laptop loaded with Vista; I downloaded latest version of Microsoft Mobile Device Center 6.1. I can successfully pair up the Mogul and the laptop. I can only get Activesync, handsfree and stereo bluetooth services. I can't get Internet Sharing to run properly using either usb or BT. I randomly get two errors - device cannot connect or vision username and password error.

Others have reported success and I've really struggled for an entire day!

Any suggestions? Will the old usbmodem or wmodem files work? Where do I get them?
