Yeah I'd like to increase the earpiece volume as well as the speak volume for ringers. I'm sure someone will come up with something. I used to have Volume Care on my Treo and that was great.

Changing the voice codec used to be the solution for the 6700... I did a search in the Titan forums and didn't find anything, so I'll try myself and let you know.

How to increase in call volume and voice quality:
Dial ##778#
Enter your MSL
Tap "View Info" and go onto the CDMA Settings
Change EVRC Enable to Disable
Change Home Page to Voice 13k
Change Home Orig to Voice 13k
Tap OK, then Yes then OK again to reset the device.

So far so good on my 6800... voice quality is good and sound is loud and clear.

So what do these changes actually mean? What is EVRC (that we are disabling)? And what are the differences among the various other codec options?

Later Edit: I did some searches on CDMA codecs and found that switching back to the 13K codec is a substantial step downward in audio quality. After doing some (very limited) experimenting, I've settled on SMV as working best on my phone. My home office is in a very weak signal area, and SMV gave me surprisingly good call quality - much better than the default EVRC or (especially) the Voice13K. But I haven't done extensive testing - I'd have to try it in a wide range of circumstances (different signal strengths, different towers, different roaming partners, etc.) to really know which one is best.

Here's some additional info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EVRC

The 4GV codecs do not seem to be available on the 6800. And there are some other codec options listed in the 6800 that I haven't tried, though I suspect that they are older technology.

EDIT: Caution this tweak involves editing a multistring (multi_sz).

Function: Tear down idle data connection after a set delay to preserve battery life

The Mogul terminates data connections 10 minutes after it's been idle. If you have multiple apps requesting data in the background such as email checking, weather etc...your phone ends up having an idle connection all day long. This registry tweak overides the default timeout and allows you to set your own delay, in my case I set it to 30 seconds...

HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Planner/Settings/CacheTime
Change 600 to whatever value you want in seconds

HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Planner/Settings/SuspendResume
Whatever value you have in there (I had #777), change to:
#777_bye_if_device_off

Soft reset and enjoy

Question noob questions!

upgraded from apache to mogul a month ago. Spent a month finding apps i like and want to keep. everything is backed up.

other than customizing skins and adding cabs i havent really done to much to my ppcs.

#1. if I start to play with the registry, will hard reset put me back at beginning?

#2. And on a scale of 1 to 10, what is the likely hood that i might turn it into a brick?

1. Yes it will be just like the first day you got it, except for changes like the "faster ringing" which is in the "phone programming", the registry will be like day one.

2. Hard to answer, but my guess for you would be a .1 unless you do some completely crazy thing. From the sound of it, you are already concerned and aware of the worst case scenario, which is lightyears ahead of a lot of people that just jump in and do every edit they find without hardly reading, so you'll be just fine.

I have done 2 hard resets personally.
Once in the beginning when I wanted everything fresh again.
Then once again after experimenting for awhile when I got almost everything the way I wanted with tweaks, reg edits, and programs I did another hard reset and and reinstalled everything like that (so as to have the memory defragged basically and get rid of leftover files and changes from deleting unwanted programs and such)

Just wanted to say that this tweak prevents data from auto disconnectin when some one calls you while on evdo connection...... this tweak = no one can reach you while you surf the net

You must be in a 1x only area or roaming. You can't receive calls during an active 1x data connection, calls will come through if the connection is idle or during an active EVDO connection.

It depends on the phone's setup. The moto q, for example, would send a call to vmail during an active EVDO connection. There was a hack to work around this problem. The 6800 already has that hack built in so calls come through during an active EVDO connection. However, there are ways to disable it which would generally be done through EPST (##778#). However, it might be possible to get the same effect via a registry setting.

well, no

evdo is supposed to disconnect when someone calls, when i had this hack runnin, the call would show up but i could not answer....... after i hardreset to undo it, calls come thru again like normal

literally, the phone will not let you answer a call, it will show the alert that someone is callin you but wont let you pick up

try it, i hard reseted like three times tryin to pinpoint my issue, this tweak doesnt allow you answer calls while on evdo
