How can I tell if my phone is unlocked?

My buddy worked on it and was into something I have never seen and it wasn't the registry. He was following some downloaded directions to use it as a modem (tethered) which i didn't want- If it is unlock would seflashing the os relock it? He doesn't know either.

Thanks I could find it anywhere even after LOTS of searching

I'm not quite sure what seflashing is, but I do know that flashing a custom rom on a phone that has already been unlocked will NOT relock it. It's not possible.

Sorry typo I meant reistalling sprints latest version windows 6.1 Is there a way to tell if it's unlocked like say the numbers on the startup screen?

Putting it in BootLoader mode will tell you if it has been unlocked. But if you have flashed to a custom ROM then it would have to be unlocked first anyway. Locking it back requires another 'special' piece of software to 'relock' it.

nothing but stock sprint roms. My buddy did something in that area of the phone to tether without being detected by sprint-

Hiding from the carrier doing data on thier towers is like trying to hide from the NSA, it isnt going to happen.

yeah that's why I have NEVER done it. He thought he was doing me a big favor- The thing is I bought this phone because it does eveything I want it to especially online. I'm not a big online person, reseach products before buyind cking email and google news.
