When the phone arrives.... What to do first?

Well. my new Titan is on the way... I have a question about what i should do first....

when i get the phone... should i do my radio update (if needed) and flash the rom... Before i change my service over to it??? because im probably going to need the Akey?

anything else i should know.. once again, im trying to prepare

first thing you should do is, read read and read. second dont be in a rush, take your time so you dont brick your phone. what service are you switching to? read all the information you can first before doing anything.

i have verizon now.. im just getting the new phone and switching it over to that one.(its already a verizon phone) i have a crappy clamshell right now.. ive been reading for the past week.. my woman is getting mad at me, lol. But i def wanted to flash the rom to a better one. Ive done this stuff before.. i can jailbreak an iphone in my sleep. and i used to have the xv6700.. never re flashed it though. i was gonna flash my phone with the Scott's Titan M2D ROM http://www.scottcrosler.com/

Your new phone should have the latest radio and ROM installed on it..

First you will want to unlock your phone and install a custom ROM.. Look at this thread for all the information on how to do it..

Then you will want to find a ROM you like and follow the directions on how to install it..

You most likely won't need to mess with the A-Key.

I must have flashed one of my titan's 30 times & never once needed an A-Key.

The basic procedure it to unlock the phone, then upgrade the radio if required, then flash the ROM & then install your carrier cab if it's not included in your ROM flash.

After that, all you usually need to do is dial *228 & hit option 1.

awesome.. thats what i though....

Now after i do the unlock and rom install... will that clear any thing out that i will need to know before i call and change over... Will i need an AKEY.. will the Verizon dude. just give me that info? I read somewhere..(now i cant find it) that i need to use a crack program to get to get all the info off of the phone first just incase? (also the Akey changes every time?)

apologies for the newbie question...but when you get a refurbished 6800 from sprint, it will have the newest rom and radio....but will GPS be activated? i am switching over from 6700 to 6800 on my existing sprint through an upgrade/replacement phone.
