right, I forgot that step but that's nothing.

I have never had to do the "A-Key thing" or anything else. After *228/option 1 it works just fine.

Yup, if you flash the radio via USB you'll need to get an a-key. I've had to do that twice, and I did my last radio flash from the sd card and didn't need one.

Or if you have an old vzw phone lying around you can just swap its esn on and then put your 6800 back on, and no need to call for an a-key

Is that what causes that?? I never realized that.

I have always done the radio from a card, & then flashed the ROM using a USB connection as it seems to work better that way for me...

When I get done with the ROM flash, I immediately delete the ROM file & save the blank RUU for next time.

Ya I didn't know that either, someone at XDA mentioned it to me. I too flash my rom from the usb.

Yes because unless you have winrar program installed windows does not know how to use it. Download and install winrar first then open the file. Inside the RAR file is the utillity u need to run to exit the bootloader, should be an exe to click on inside of the rar.
