The Last Stand (Force a Mogul Recall)

I am on my third Mogul in a couple weeks. The first I bought off ebay as a refurb unit and it never worked right, I finally after flashing it for 2 days got to activate it and then put insurance on it and took it to Sprint. They replaced it with another refurb which then lasted 3-4days before problems happened. They both were unresponsive, had the white spots on the screen. The third one, which I still have was brand new, no refurb unit and its perfect no issues, no white spots and no freezing at all. Love it!! Had to update to Windows Mobile 6.1 but thats it.

When you get a good one, it really is a very good unit.

I am 100% happy with the one I use daily running nueROM3 & a TON of apps/customizations etc etc

The funny thing is, even though I didn't really want one, I actually have a free Sprint TouchPro coming in the next day or so. I am going to activate it on my vz unlimited data plan & see if this particular one works any better than the one my boss bought & returned.

I will work it out real hard & then if I don't like it a LOT better than my current 6800 it may well end up on ebay. I will post my results here later this week.

Well, after all of the Pro bashing, why even give it a try? Why not just pass it along to someone who's not as satisfied with their glorious Mogul. After all, it is free, right?

Because I got it free (I just got a shipping notice that it came today) & I like tinkering.

If I don't like it I will sell it on ebay & make a few bucks.

jpmortan10, how did you get it free? Was it because of the white spot that you had mentioned here earlier that your Mogul developed?

i've probably gone through i think 10 moguls... i go to the repair center to get mine replaced, get a refurb back, and before i even walk to my car i notice a problem with the referb and they just send in another refurb. every single mogul i get has the white problem, even in the refurbs right out of the box. every single mogul i get works fast for about 1 or 2 months, than slows down to a snail speed and always crashes. like the features the phone has, but i just wish it was faster and had more ram.

Love my Mogul. Worked great, no replacement yet. Running Scroslers DCD revised Rom with M2D. No out of memory issues or apps closing prematurely. No white spots. Even bought a Diamond, but returned it due to lack of hardware buttons/keyboard. May consider the TouchPro but still concerned about the lack of programmable buttons.

Same here, the two 6800's I have work perfectly (running nueROM3 & TF2D) although maybe that was just luck of the draw.

I activated the Sprint TouchPro I got yesterday on my vz account (to see if I want to keep it) & I am already badly missing the hardware buttons. Why HTC thought it was necessary to eliminate all the buttons is beyond me. At least this P seems to function correctly as opposed to the one my boss bought & returned.

Even if I do keep the TP for now, I will never sell the 6800 I have been using daily as I have a feeling I may be switching back to it.........

Greetings. I think i've had pretty much the same issues everyone else here has experienced (white spots, low ram, freezing, laggy keyboard, etc). And even after all that, i can honestly say the only reason i'd like to upgrade to the TP is for the increased ram. I love all the buttons on my mogul, i use the scroll wheel enough to miss it if it was gone, and i actually prefer the screen not being flush with the device. Like jmorton has said before, i have this mogul exactly the way i want it. But yet, i feel my mogul is definately getting phased out with its low ram. Without flashing a custom rom, i can't run opera mobile 9.5 or netfront 3.5, and probably other software to come, like firefox fennec or IE 6. I've emailed sprint about my moguls defects, and for me personally, i don't think they're gonna give in and let me swap. Not until they run out of new and refurbed moguls at least. I have a question for you though. How many of you would keep your mogul and not seriously consider an upgrade to the TP, if our moguls had 128mb of ram? Just curious. Thanks

I absolutely would (heck, I'm considering it anyway). I also prefer the recessed screen.
