Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

this doesnt mess up the wifi. in some cases the wifi being turned on will prevent the agps to function properly. because it uses the wifi to get the data. but agps uses both standalone gps and the cell towers to locate you. have the wifi card can 'confuse' the phone how to use the agps.

next guy,

follow the directions step by step. i dont think i say anything about active sync. disable active sync temporarily when doing this if u need to. install the drivers. put phone in diag mode, connect phone, wait 60 secs. the drivers are in the system folder i think if u need to find them manually.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

Very new to this and begining to enjoy it. Your step by step proceedure for faster locks with agps was extremly helpful and did the trick.

Thanks for the information.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

that sucks that ur phone is sluggish. but i can assure u it has NOTHING to do with ur registry changes. absolutly nothing. I will bet my house/car on it. all the registry does is create a few entries in the htc supl gps registry. if u think that by adding this it will slow down ur OS on ur phone then u are nuts. all of these reg entries are all ready there. it just changes the value of em. so bah.

i dont care if u use my **** or not. its there, it works. dont use it, use it. what ever. all i know is that it took my *** months to get agps to work. i figured it out. i did the research. and i shared it with yall for nothin. do what u want with it. peace.

oh and whomever said it caused the're phone to slow down. f.u. 4 posts....ha

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I have done the whole fix and my GPS is still very weak.

I have had the problem since I got the phone. I live in Sarasota, FL and work in Ocala, FL. It seems that my GPS will not work in my hometown (Sarasota) most of the time. In Ocala, FL or anywhere outside of Sarasota it works great! I installed NFSFANS ROMs and it finally started working in Sarasota, although somewhat finicky. I installed his latest ROM and it went back to the way it was. The easy thing to do would be revert back, but I like the new features.

I installed this fix and it didn't seem to help, I had installed it before in earlier ROMs and didn't seem to help then either.

I have an Alltel TP and would just like to get this thing running.

The only correlation I can find is maybe the Roaming when I am out of town make my GPS work?

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I had a GPS melt down after trying a bunch of different Roms (designed for different carriers). Apparently this really messes up your GPS settings. Mine was so bad that a satellite lock caused a reboot or my phone froze.

After going through these steps (and going to stock), i get a lock indoors in less than 20 seconds!!

Thanks for the great info, I'm running a Sprint TP by the way.

Re: Alltel GPS with A-GPS - super fast lockon

I had a problem with my Vogue getting a AGPS signal(which I think AGPS is all you can use on this phone. I don't believe it has an actual GPS chip in it). I followed the steps for the registry, QPST, and windows settings, still nothing. Google maps keeps saying Initializing and then pops up GPS Connection Error. I pulled up GPSViewer and hit scan. Scans all ports looking for gps, and finds com 5 and 7 blank. Com 4 says open failed. I am scanning at 4800 bps. I am also on Metro. I flashed the phone to WM 6.5. The radio ver: 3.42.30

Any help would be awesome! I would love to be able to use my GPS when I am on my motorcycle instead of paying $200++ for something else I have to take off everytime I stop somewhere!

Thanks in advance
-Chris
