Microsoft Portrait Questions

I have a mogul and I just downloaded and installed Microsoft Portrait.

I pretty much have no idea how to use it, my intentions were to use it as a webcam for Windows Messenger. I don't want to use it as a webcam for my computer, just a stand-alone webcam for my PPC. Is this possible?

I did some searching and haven't found any clear instructions on how to go about setting up this program and actually using it... any help?

maybe i'm just not getting it, but i need some help... what does this app do and how do i make it do what it's supposed to do... blue shoe flu new lol

any takers?

thanks in advance

Re: Microsoft Portrait Questions

I had this one installed before I updated to the latest stock ROM. Haven't reinstalled it yet, but from what I remember, I believe it only works with other MS Portrait clients. I only tried it with a PC install, and it worked well enough. The framerate wasn't spectacular, but it worked well enough with CDMA.

Since it only works with other Portrait clients, I wasn't able to test PPC to PPC... nor to test it as a messenger (yet). heh, how often have you gotten all your friends to install a new messenger? As I understand it, it's under development, though I don't know how much development is still planned.

Seems it's one of the few apps that fills this niche. It may be that it'll interact with other messengers in the future, or another app will pick up the slack.

Re: Microsoft Portrait Questions

If I remember right, Portrait works with Netmeeting. If you were to find anybody who would remember netmeeting. I played with it several years ago when I tried using it to view a webcam on the computer.

Re: Microsoft Portrait Questions

Does Skype do this capability? I never have tried it.
