I never could get Active sync to work properly with contacts so I just downloaded Dashwire and sync my contacts with that. I dont uses dashwire for anything else. Just a contact backup.

All good suggestions, but I WANT Outlook, to simplify my email. I'm only somewhat techno-literate, and I don't have the time nor the inclination, really, to go trying various alternatives.

@flyers & GA. Medic: I downloaded Microsoft Outlook 2007 trial, and my AS/phone refuse to recognize it's presence as far as syncing. AS's synchronization Wizard keeps telling me I have to disconnect, install and run Outlook, and reconnect my phone and run the Wizard again, even when I run the Wizard with Outlook open.

I have this same problem... Have Outlook 2007 installed and it has no email linked to it or anything... just fresh installed. I have the contacts selected to sync in my activesync... and it throws error codes

I highly suggest Dash Mobile or PIM Backup. Both are stand-alone programs that don't need to be connected to the computer to work. Both of them back up the same information that ActiveSync backs up. One of them stores the information online (Dash), the other stores it on your MiniSD card (PIM).

Both are free, and both are highly recommended.
