Mobile Shell beta 3

Hey guys, this may be a dumb question but what exactly is the difference when you pay for the mobile shell software and when you download it? Is the download like a trial version? Are there features that are locked when you do not buy it? I am absolutely stumped at this. And I don't want to dish out $30 if it's not necessary.

Also beta 3 is available, they posted the link on thier site yesterday which fixes reported bugs.

Direct from the forums at spb:

Spb Mobile Shell 2.1.1 Beta 3 (build 3500) is available for open beta testing.

You can download the beta version at

http://softspb.com/downloads/MobileShell211Beta/3500/SpbMobileShell2.arm.cab
http://softspb.com/downloads/MobileShell211Beta/3500/SpbMobileShell2_setup.exe

The list of changes (from Beta 2 to Beta 3):
- Improved black theme design (background, popups, Spb Contacts)
- Fixed bug with dialing from a contact card on some devices
- Impelemented compatibility with custom "unofficial" themes (operator info, layout shifts in response on taps under certain conditions)
- Opera support: favourites, history, shortcut (only for Opera 9.5 OEM builds; e. g. HTC Diamond)
- Improved gestures recognition
- Fixed crash on devices with unsupported backlight

Please refer to the first post in this thread for addional information about this beta.

Thank you!

Re: Mobile Shell beta 3

When you d/l a trial version, it will work for X days (I think Mobile Shell is 15 days). Once that time runs out, you will get a pop up message telling you to register, i.e. pay for, the program to continue using it. Once you fork out the $$, you're sent a registration key which you'll plug in on the registration screen and the program is now yours.

Re: Mobile Shell beta 3

Yeah, right after I posted this thread, I was looking around the menus and I saw an option for registriation. Mines has 11 days left before my trial runs out. I felt like a dope when I found this. Lol! But I have noticed that there are a few glitches with the program such as from the now screen when I go to hit either the sms button or mail button it doesn't open up those menus. I put a post on thier forum regarding these. Is anyone else experiencing this.

Re: Mobile Shell beta 3

I'm still running 2.1, but remember you're working w/ a beta edition, so there's bound to be issues. That's why the beta's released, to ID issues in a real world environment before final release

Re: Mobile Shell beta 3

Hey everyone,
Has anyone experienced a problem with the WinMo contacts (poutlook) crashing when using Mobile Shell? I am using v2 right now, and if I try to access the contacts screen (not the one built into Shell, but the poutlook contacts), it crashes and takes me to the Send Error Report screen.

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Mobile Shell beta 3

Are you using v 2.0 and WM 6.1? If so, upgrade to SPB mobile shell 2.1 and it should work. I'm running 2.1 on my mogul with WM 6.1 and everything is working good so far.

Re: Mobile Shell beta 3

I am on their site, but all the info I am seeing about does not state: " Impelemented compatibility with custom "unofficial" themes (operator info, layout shifts in response on taps under certain conditions)"

Am I just looking at the wrong section?
