time zone change

i was just in dallas and my phone is set to california time. when i would get texts (sms chat) they would show up on dallas time even though the phone was still on california time. does this mean that there may be a way to do some sort of fix on the mogul or other ppc phones to have the time zone change when you switch time zones like on regular phones? im sure im not the only one who really wants this.

Re: time zone change

If you have it set to update the time off of the network, then it should adjust itself after a soft reset. It will verify time based on the local network, and should change its timezone all on its own.

Re: time zone change

Maybe it doesn't change the timezone, but I beleive it did change the time... I could be crazy though. I've had a lot of phones.

Re: time zone change

I just verified that this does indeed now work. My normal time is Tampa (eastern). I just flew to Salt Lake City, phone auto adjusted to Mountain Time, then I flew to San Francisco and it switched to Pacific Time, all on its own. The only thing I did was turn flight mode on/off each time.

It does not change the "visiting" time, it makes the home time the current timezone and adjusts your calendar automatically.

I have been travelling with PPC phones since the G1000 and this is the first time I have ever seen this work automatically on the PPC. I was just in Mexico 3 weeks ago and it was not an automatic switch, I had to do it by hand. Same ROM and I have always had the "Get Time from Network" setting turned on.

This must be a fix on Sprint's network and I am very happy to have it work.

Re: time zone change

yea, the time will automatically change to your local time and probably getting the time from the network. i've disabled "automatic time synchronization" and it still work.

you can test to see if it work just by changing your time and wait awhile, your time and date will automatically adjust to current time and date, even with "automatic time synchronization disabled."
