Sending files through bluetooth

Can anyone assist me so that I can send files - mp3s, jpegs, etc through Bluetooth. I cant find any option on my phone to send anything aside from 'beam file' but it fails to connect with the device I'm trying to send files to (Blackberry Curve).

any help on this is appreciated.

Re: Sending files through bluetooth

look for a program called ftp bluetooth client, i think its free. then put files you want into the bluetooth share folder it creates. i have successfully transfered music and photos to my gfs lg rumor like this. btw beam is for your infared port not your bt.

Re: Sending files through bluetooth

I sent a file through bluetooth for the first time today. First I had to sync the two phones together through connections > bluetooth.

Once they were synced I just clicked on the file then went to menu > beam file just like you would through infrared and it automatically sent it through bluetooth.

Re: Sending files through bluetooth

1) Pair your phone to where you want to sent the file to / from (eg. PC)
2) While you pair the device, make sure "ActiveSync" is checked
3) Open ActiveSync on your phone (usually located at Start Menu -> Program, and that assume you already installed ActiveSyne on your PC if you running XP or older version on your PC)
4) When the "Sync" windows pop up on your PC, click on "Browse the device" (or sth like that)
5) You can now access your phone just like an extra hard drive (like usb flash memory drive).

Hope that help you.

Re: Sending files through bluetooth

Lots of diff options here i guess. Here is what works for me to transfer files from my vogue(or titan or 750 when i had those) to any of my friends' bb's:
Pair the two devices as listed above. Key is almost always 0000
Find the file in your file explorer
Tap and hold to choose beam file (which is for both IR and BT, be patient, it is looking for BT devices in range when it first comes up)
**Have the BB device navigate to the folder they want to save the file in and hit menu key to select receive file
tap their device in your beam file list and it will send

Re: Sending files through bluetooth

I am having issues with BT file transfer from Resco Explorer 2007v6.17. I always get the obex error. Although I am able to send from the OEM file explorer just fine. I am using DCD 3.16 (wm6.1). Any ides??
Things that I have checked are
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Obex\IsEnabled=1
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Obex\ObexServiceMask=2
HKLM\Services\OBEX\Keep=0

Re: Sending files through bluetooth

I tried the ftp software gimmick, but that did not seem to provide an outlet for me to send files from my phone, to another phone. I've been able to use beaming for most files, my friend with a blackberry doesnt have IR. How can I send the files? When I look at the menu the only options given are "Send" and "Beam" and when I select send it brings me to my messaging menu. I dont have a "Send Via Bluetooth" I have Alltel, and I have WM 6.0.

You asked about upgrading to the new 6.1 rom. I was able to send files to the phone from my pc through bluetooth but now with the new rom it doesn't work. Was it disabled with this rom or is there an extra step?

Most likely OBEX for certain file types is blocked on your friends Blackberry, and many other Verizon/Sprint phones. BTW, The beam feature is used for both Bluetooth transfers and IR.
