XV6800 USB question?

Has anybody had trouble with USB connection on the XV6800? I have a phone that has the OEM ROM and Radio, and is not curently activated. When I try to connect to the phone with active sync nothing happens. My other phones connect no problem. Could the USB be bad or is there something I'm missing?
