Trouble with using midi for ringtone

I can't seem to use my midi files for ringtone. I copy them to /windows/ring. they show up and i can select them in phone setting for preview listening. but when i hit the play button in preview, they don't play. All the other ringtones that came with the phone in wma format work fine as is an mp3 file which i copy to the ring dir.

Anyone with same problem or have solution? thanks

nm. got it working now after upgrading to 3.56 rom. must be the beta 3.49 giving problem....
