Don't start the process in doors, it seems if you start off on the wrong foot it takes way longer to get a locks

I don't use a primer, to me the HTC GPS tools is just as finicky as the GPS apps.

If tomtom doesn't start getting data in 15 - 30 seconds I go through the config for the GPS, that works about half the time. If it doesn't I turn the phone off and back on and it will lock quick.

Not sure why the GPS gets locked up sometimes but for me turning the phone off and back on clears it up.

Once I have a solid lock I find that it holds pretty good even indoors

With the new radio which you can download from a link in my signature I get about 6 - 8 satallites outside with 4-6 constant locks, inside it does down to 2-3 locks, but if I am indoors I usually know where I am at

have you checked the different "fix" links that i updated on the first post? they have helped me get quicker locks, they may help you as well. you should give them a try if you are unsatisfied with the length of time it takes to get a fix. they have worked well for me

ya, I have gone through those tools. But has someone pointed out mode 4 may not provide a benefit to verizon users. I still have mine set to 2.

I am happy with mine, its just not as smooth as a standalone unit or BT receiver yet. In most cases I can launch TT6 and quickly get 3+ locks, just sometimes it needs a little help. but to be fair I had similar problems with my holux and treo with TT6. took a certain order otherwise the software and device where out of sync and would not get locked sats.

agreed, sometime it does take me a little bit to get a fix, but this is only after not trying to get one for over a day. and yes you are correct, gps mode 4 does NOTHING as ive heard

Ok, so Im a bit new to the 68 but had the 67 for a long time and had it tricked out. As for my 68 and the GPS. My 68 is a vzw unit and I flashed the radio to 3.42.50 and the ROM is 3.56 custom cooked. I turned my "location" on and turned GPS on and locked on very quickly. I mean within a few seconds I had 4-5 sats.

Besides having the 3.42.50 radio, can you give a bit more info? Is your rom custom cooked in BuildOS? Did you add any additional files/drivers or make any additional registry changes? Did you do a hard-reset after flashing your rom? Is your fast locks at home, and if so, had you gotten good locks there before? Just trying to narrow some things down. Thanks.

Being honest, this was my first cooked ROM and I plan on adding OEMs to make it more what I want it to be v/s make it what it is based on what software is available in BuildOS. I added only what I have listed below and did no reg edits as of yet. My locks are at work where I live the most (LOL). I havent tried at home yet. I just got it working this morning. I did hard reset after the flashing of the ROM.

But like I said, I flashed the ROM, hard reset, turned the Location ON and turned the Today GPS to ON and then went to the HTC GPS and checked everything and started seeing it lock on.

But to answer your Q, this is what was added in this ROM I am using now. My custom ROM will be SICK!!
