I have talked to friends at USCC and they say there is no way that they can get me the official rom trying ut now.

well as far as I can tell is that the 6800 is gonna be short lived. I have been talking with the tech at a corp store and by the sound of things USCC is not going to release a ROM update for it. Most likely once this out of their stock it is gonna be history.

So if you do find or get one frm UTstarcom or HTC you will be lucky. As for USCC releasing the current or an upgrade, It will probably not happen.

If uscc cancels this phone any idea of what they are going to replace it with since i am stuck with uscc in my area and i have not actually bought this phone yet since i dont have the money yet.

seems odd that they're so protective of it though considering you can get it from other companies...pretty easily it seems.

maybe they are doing a test run of the 6800 and if it does well, they'll release a new version with the new ROM.

Thank you for contacting UTStarcom...

The software specification was made for US Cellular based on the carrier request. If you flash the unit there might be some problem using certain programs on the unit. Once you flash the unit there is no way to flash it back. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

I wonder if there's anyway to make the sprint 2.17 appear like the USCC ROM. lol
