that's fine - some people are reporting that, just wait 30 sec or so and soft reset and it will come back up fine with the update....

Do you know whether this update is uninstallable somehow? Or does it require a hard reset to remove?

I re-applied the GPS thing with the 4 files and its back up and running fine. I just wish I knew more about the inner workings of this phone, so that I wouldn't be such a noob. I guess I'll get there eventually.

Thanks for the advice,

im not too sure but i think if you upgrade your radio (only radio) to 3.39 it gets MUCH faster locks for gps. alltels rom and radio was the first i used for gps and i thought it was good cuz it locked on in a few minutes. but with this new radio i get locks within about 5-20 seconds depending on if i have recently locked on in the location before.

this is my experience with the new radio, but i bet others would back it up. btw look into something called UC for autoinstalling all your cabs and stuff, or check out a nuerom

*stunned*

Wow... thanks. Seriously. Wow.

So my PRI was 1.4? something in the 1s. Pre-GPS - am running the stock sprint rom (latest) but did not let any customizations run when I installed it. I've *always* had issues with the gps on the mogul... have a newer at&t tilt and it locks very fast, the mogul was always hit or miss.

Put this thing in, and.. er, 7 sats *inside* in about 5 seconds, from a dead cold start with no previous fix at this location in last 12 hours.

Wowsa.

Again, thanks! Gonna get a lot more use out of tomtom now ;)

I haven't had a problem with GPS locks since the original leaked 3.16, but I figured I'd give this a shot anyway.

Doesn't appear to be doing anything for me. In my building in downtown Houston I was never able to get a lock before, and I still can't. I've been sitting off the coast of Africa for 10 minutes. Zero satellites (as expected), and apparently no independent aGPS lock either. Maybe aGPS is only currently used to assist the satellite based chip? (edit: that sounds kind of stupid:) I realize it is "assisted GPS," but I was thinking that you should be able to get a lock based on cell towers alone, satellites alone, or a combination of the two.)

I was getting ~10 second locks before trying this, so there isn't a whole lot of room for improvement, but I'll see how quick I get a lock on my way home today.

Is this file worth a shot on a Vogue? I remember seeing some PPST stuff for the Sprint Touch a while back. My wife's Touch is very hit or miss currently.

Is there a way someone could give me a detailed explaination about what I need to do to just upgrade the radio to 3.39? Also, is there any compatability issues between radio version 3.39 and Alltel?

Does this improve GPS performance on no2chem ROMs? Right now I am running 5069-k

Re: Sprint PRI UPDATE - 5 second GPS locks - cab attached

Wow folks, I just have to say.. NIGHT and day performance for me.

I'm on the latest 6.0 Sprint OEM
Check your Start->Settings->System->Device Information
Running radio 3.35.04 (latest Sprint OEM)
Running PRI 2.03_003 (this is what this cab updates TO)

If you're not running that PRI, and you are on Sprint, Install it. If you were already running that, then this cab does nothing (re-installs same pri)
If your PRI rev is lower, then you really should install this cab/update it... If you do install it, make sure you re-enable the agps registry settings, enable the agps service (if you had set them to 0, and disabled that service...)

My gps has never been this stable or fast to lock. I am really, truly stunned.
