Verizon XV6800 says it's Sprint PCS after DCD 3.0.4 rom upgrade
So I put on the Sprint 3.35 ROM and then upgraded to the DCD 3.0.4 ROM afterwards (ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/Ja...35.04radio.rar). I also made sure to use the Verizon ROM at the bottom of the first post there.
For whatever reason, It says Sprint PCS instead of Verizon Wireless, and I can't call *228 or 611 to program it. I'm a noob, so I'm sure I missed something, but if you could help me out I'd MUCH appreciate it so I can get my phone working again. Thanks, Marcus

All I have to do is call Verizon and get my new a key. Any way to actually reach a person at technical support and get this done at this hour (past midnight), or don't they have a 24 hour technical support. |

Re: Verizon XV6800 says it's Sprint PCS after DCD 3.0.4 rom upgrade
be careful here. downgrading the actual RADIO can be bad. there is certain 'stuff' within the newly enabled GPS chipset, (when you originally flashed to 3.27), that can't be turned back off when downgrading back to the stock radio..
all you really have to do is just re-flash the DCD rom.. so when i read your comment about reverting back to the orig. verizon rom, i am crossing my fingers that you didn't go back to the 2.xx radio.... that XDA thread is certainly long winded, and seems like they are making a novel out of a short story. all you needed to do is a hard reset, then re-flash the DCD 3.x rom... whenever you then see it reboot and go to the startup screen - just make sure you soft reset when it says 'Customzations will start in 3 seconds, tap screen to begin'.. (or something like that). going forward, ANYtime you flash a new rom, you MUST NOT let the customizations run.. are you getting the bug yet ?

Re: Verizon XV6800 says it's Sprint PCS after DCD 3.0.4 rom upgrade
I did reflash back to the original rom, and I'm going to have to again because Verizon is sending me out a new phone and I'm sending back this one.
There should really be something about not letting that customization run because I read through maybe 5 - 10 threads before I did this and I didnt see anything about it. When I called Verizon we were on the phone for over an hour and he couldnt figure it out. I mentiooned that DMU reset thing and he said he tried it but it didnt work. Needless to say I am pretty pissed at myself for this. I've built 3 computers and I hacked the E815 for almost three years with no major errors or problems. When I get this new phone today (They shipped it overnight express) I'm using that old version of the DCD rom that I mentioned in another thread and maybe one day I'll upgrade it to that newer one. It's not that I can't handle this, because I know I can, it's that I didn't do enough research and spend enough time learning about this device, I jumped into it. |

Re: Verizon XV6800 says it's Sprint PCS after DCD 3.0.4 rom upgrade
Ok, so I won't have the phone until tomorrow afternoon. I've got some time to think this over and I've come up with two options...
A) I can use that old version of the DCD rom and radio that is located here...http://www.phonenews.com/how-to-add-...00-titan-2663/ Yes, it is old, but so what? Despite the fact that I could upgrade frequentely like a lot of you do, I don't really want or need to, I just want that GPS and Rev A EVDO. B) I can give that DCD 3.1.2 or 3.0.4 rom a shot again. It's newer and seems to be the popular one, but once again, I personally don't have a need to upgrade a lot. The GPS is important, but I'm going to be using my Laptops or Desktops far more often than this phone (I see the XV6800 as a substitute for when nothing else is available), so maybe I can stick with the older, more simpler version. On a side note, when I get this new phone I have to call Verizon to activate it. Should I call and activate it on the stock rom and then call back a second time and get my new a key for when I upgrade to whatever rom I choose...or...should I just upgrade the rom and radio right away when I get it and then call Verizon and activate it for the first time on a new, non-stock rom. I'm leaning towards the first choice just to be safe, but if you guys have any objections please say so. Any advice at the point would be much appreciated. Thanks again for the help.
