Custom vs. Official ROM

I am currently running the official 3.35 Sprint ROM on my mogul, and was just wondering what are some of the advantages of custom ROMS, my phone works well, and my memory is ok, although I do run out some times (especially if i use opera 9.5 + iFonz). But are custom roms faster or better in any way, and same thing for WM 6.1 vs the official ROMS which are only 6.0 (besides the test one going around). So basically I want to know, Official ROM vs. Best Custom ROM? and Official 3.35 WM6.0 vs. Custom WM6.1.

i have tried a couple of different custom rom by different authors here on the ppcgeeks forum, and tried several versions. in my opinion, no custom rom is stable as the final official rom, which i have not yet experience with a crash or a freeze yet. with the custom roms, some softwares wont work, some funtions wont work and it crash and freeze up sometimes. the custom rom is a bit faster and memory available is about 5mb more after reboot.


after flashing and reflashing 10-20 times, i have flashed back with the original official rom. all the softwares that i use are tomtom, google map, IE for online surfing and nothing much else. i think the official rom is sufficient for my purpose.
