Re: mogul, red green blue screen?
It's a hardware error. It will keep coming back. You should have never purchased a Mogul... trash phone...

Re: mogul, red green blue screen?
I don't mean to sound so harsh. But, really HTC deserves to be wacked over the head for making such a garbage device. I will never buy another Mogul, oh wait I didn't pay for the one I have now
I like a lot of other people thought the shortcomings of the 6700 would be solved somewhat in the Mogul. Not at all, there are fewer problems in the 6700. The only thing that keeps me with the Mogul is true GPS and more storage. If it weren't for that, I'd be out. |

The TP is my 3rd and probably final HTC DESIGNED device. HTC designs for the spec sheet, not real world usage. They cut corners to save a few pennies per phone and we get nailed with insurance deductible and device repair price increases to cover the high failure rate. The only way I end up with a TP2 is the same way I ended up with a TP, a free replacement.

That's nothing new to me. I know the Touch Pro has issues. It is such a shame. I have played with the Vogue though and it seems to hold up great. Only real issues is some dark spots can occur. Really though, the Vogue will be my last HTC Device. I just find it rediculous that these Asian-based manufactures cut corners in every posible way. What makes it worse is when Verizon cripples an already limited phone... |

Re: mogul, red green blue screen?
I have had my Mogul for 11 months. It has worked fine and I have been happy with it. One day I also got the Rainbow color screen. I have never loaded any custom ROMs. What i found is that the isue is with the serial connection on the device. as stated above, when I plugged in the "Y" cable that has the round 1/16" headphone jack, the device would boot up fine. It will not boot with the dual USB "Y" cable. Not sure why? (I hate the strange USB connection and the fact that I cannot get a 3.5mm headphone connection) Anyway. I also had issues with the active sync function. the USB cable was fine as the phone showed charge when connected to the USB port. I swapped to the Dual USB "Y" cord and Now when I plugged in the junk USB headphone that came with the phone into the USB "Y" cord Active Sync worked. Not sure Why but I need it to work until I can get a replacement. I may see if there is a loose connection on the USB connector on the device. If you care for the device, the only part that gets wear is the connector. (I have a Invis-a-shield screen protector on it so the screen is still perfect!)
I Hope this helps someone. |

Re: mogul, red green blue screen?
Same rainbow screen, but mine has a workaround. In my case, here's how it's happening and how I get around it:
When I press power button to turn phone on: Get Red Green Blue White screen with ROM info and "Serial" in white. Through much trial and error I found out that when this happens: 1) Remove the battery to turn off the power 2) Replace the battery (phone will stay off) 3) Plug in a USB charging cable 4) Wait until the amber led becomes solid indicating charging 5) Turn on power button The phone will boot normally and not get stuck at the rainbow screen The bad news is if I ever push reset or power off the phone I'm back to the rainbow screen when it comes back on. I've tried different batteries. In my case it's very repeatable, I'm planning to take the phone into the Sprint store. I also have many other issues such as a flaky keyboard (double or triple keys sometimes, no response other times), keyboard backlight is completely out all the time, randomly loses all sound including phone earpiece & speaker requiring reset. Thought I would share. Last edited by laser92awd; 08-28-2009 at 06:15 PM. |

Re: mogul, red green blue screen?
shkoehle, i have the exact same problem. so weird... i've had my phone for about 11 months, and use it pretty heavily, especially opera mini. phone is always charging when i go to sleep, and on the second battery.
this morning, woke up and the phone froze. hit the soft reset, and up came the red green and blue screen. anyway after a couple hours of fiddling around, googling, reading forums, and a hard reset (which wasn't necessary), i figured out that either a usb cable plugged in from my computer, or as you describe, the combo headphone/usb "Y" cable will allow it to soft reset and skip the red/green/blue screen. this is a very repeatable process for me. does anyone know what is causing this? why such a strange symptom? i agree with other members who've stated on this thread that the usb/charging jack is subject to lots of use and wear. a buddy of mine had installed SPL-2.40.Olipro or something like that on my phone, and it's really served me well over the past 11 months. i was wondering, if i run the nueSPL-Relocker to get it ready to take into Sprint, will it still get to the red/green/blue screen, and require that "Y" cable to reset? or is the symptom somehow also related to the modded rom? thanks all. * in the meantime, i guess i can carry the "Y" cable around in my pocket as well Quote:
