Fax through my PC

Is it possible to use my 6800 as a fax modem? Been trying to figure that one out... If its already posted on here can someone send me the link.

I would like to have the ability to do some mobile faxing from my laptop. Or at least transfer the files to my 6800 and fax them off.

I highly doubt it. fax uses analog signal (remember 56k modem sounds) so we can't use that for fax modem. but we can use wmwifi router and a scanner to email docs!

So there is not a way to emulate the sounds with some sort of software? I know the blackberry can send faxes... The HTC should be able too.

Re: Fax through my PC

well technicly you could even have the computer make the sounds and hold the speaker to the mic in the phone and call the fax number

Re: Fax through my PC

believe me, I've look, and tried about everything.. the problem is, is that IF it is going to work you have to set the baud down to 4800 or 9600. unfortunately that takes forever and often fails, simply because it's a 5min fax, and many fax's these days have a min rate of 9600 or 14.4.
fax over SIP/voip also falls prey to corrupted/failed fax.

I suck it up and pay Ring Central $80/year for in/out fax to email with a vanity 800#

Re: Fax through my PC

If you have an access to Internet, you can use internet fax services. I know some free like www.faxsv.com, www.faxzero.com, www.freepopfax.com.

These aren't bad... It's not really what I was looking for, but when you're in a crunch they will work. Thanks again.
