AIM/Chat software - Delay in answering phone

So here I sit - trying to iron down WHY my phone is taking 6 - 10 seconds to pick up a call when in sleep mode.

I went through, removing each and every plugin on my phone. I slowly started everything back up, and the SECOND I loaded Palringo or Fring, that is when this problem happens.

It didn't happen in Mundu IM, but that wouldn't restart automatically.

Is there any solution? I'm really frustrated by this - I need my chat client open to talk to people, but I also need to not miss phone calls because my P4000 gets all confused like when a call comes in.

Anyone have this experience, any suggestions? Please help!

Nick

Re: AIM/Chat software - Delay in answering phone

Just checked a few other programs, they do the same. Agile, etc.

Sigh.

I'm using a custom DCD 3.1.2 rom with a 3.35 radio - I don't know if I'm willing to compromise in order to get chat working - I don't figure I would NEED to, that doesn't make sense, does it?

Re: AIM/Chat software - Delay in answering phone

"Delay in answering phone" ,this is because you can't have an active data connection and voice at the same time. Most IM's programs maintain a constant data connection hence the increased battery drain, some occasionally poll that your online, that is why Verichat is so missed, you didn't even have to be online to get your messages, ie SMS.

Re: AIM/Chat software - Delay in answering phone

But with the DCD Upgrade, and EVDO Rev. A - does that not allow data to not disconnect?

Either way - Is there nothing that can be done, is VeriChat the only option?

It just seems batty - I look at PocketMSN and that has the same problems. That just seems a little odd when it's loaded onto Windows Mobile phones, but yet this would pop in the same issues?

This is incredibly frustrating - Even assuming that it has to break the Data connection, is there no way to speed up the disconnect?

The fact that there is NO delay when the phone is on sleep mode doesn't seem to explain the sleep mode issue?

EVDO rev a is suppose to in theory; but who is to say you really have an EVDO rev a connection, just a thought.

I believe there are many threads on sleep mode issues (bugs) though.

Re: AIM/Chat software - Delay in answering phone

I can't say for certain regarding Rev A, but it seems that the DCD rom is full Rev A.

I will do some searching on sleep issues, know of anything off hand?

I'll see what I can find.

** I did some searching, and although I can see mention of the problems coming out of sleep mode, there's not much that addresses THIS issue, there was one mention of a thread in a thread that detailed the switch from EVDO to 1X causes the delays - but nothing further was made from that, which is a bummer.

I so need to get this to work. I'm at a loss as to what to do. Do I attempt to upgrade the radio? Might that help? I odn't want to mess around TOO much with the firmware, if something explodes the last thing I want to do is have a very expensive brick in front of me. I just want to be able to chat with friends and NOT have to worry about missing potentially important phone calls.

Re: AIM/Chat software - Delay in answering phone

Is EVDO rev a set to on, have you done the speed tests ?

The Mogul has many sleep issues, that's why I just use backlight and keep sleep turned off.

Make a full backup you can restore; like with SPB Backup and try the latest radio.
