HELP, memory is way low and cant uninstall

Hey all, need some help. For some reason I am not able to uninstall some apps. I get a message saying it cannot be uninstalled but would I like it to still be removed from the app list. Example, I have PocketCM 2.0 and 2.1 both installed and listed on my apps list, but I cannot uninstall the 2.0 version. (or the new one for that matter cause I tried that as well)

My memory sits at:

MAIN

Storage
total 166.41
used 73.66
free 94.74

program
total 46.00
used 41.14
free 4.86

I need to remove some apps, but cannot. Also, is there some special trick to remove apps installed on the storage card rather than main memory? And do the apps installed on the storage card effect in any way the program storage on the main memory?

I am runnign DCD 2.3.2, does anyone recommend moving up to a new ROM thats stable and clean?

Thanks!

Thanks guys.

Re: HELP, memory is way low and cant uninstall

You can free up your program memory two ways, start menu, settings, task manager and close the programs that are running. Also, you can do a soft rest to close everything. You can click the little box in the upper right hand corner and close the programs that way.

I would strongly recommend upgrading to DCD's 3.0.4 or 3.1.2 I am at 3.0.4 but 3.1.2 is the latest. A lot of changes have been made since then.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391696 This is DCD's thread on 3.1.2

Here is DCD's wiki for all his ROMs
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...e=dcdtitanroms

I am a pretty hardcore DCD guy, but you might want to check out no2chem's roms also. By the way I also noticed your radio is probably 3.27 I strongly recommend upgrading to 3.35 or 3.39 as they are much more stable.

Thanks ! i guess I should have been more clear, I am concerned about my memory in that I dont really have programs running, but I run way low. i am going to upgrade to the new dcd just to clean everything out I think.

Any ideas on the uninstalling apps issue?

If you upgrade, there really is no need to worry about uninstalling since it will all be wiped after a flash. I think you just might be outdated. I would recommend updating to the Sprint 3.35 official rom first before updating to any other custom ROM. You need the new radio to run the newer roms since 3.27 is/was a beta. Good luck! Be sure to back up. I have many applications installed and have around 18-21MB of free ram on average.

Do this first:

p.s. I assume you use sprint correct?

Yea, i should have been more specific, I actually use VZW. I have read a lot about upgrading to the Sprint rom, but NOT letting the customizations run, etc. I am still a bit confused on all of that tho.

This was posted on 5/2 - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25542" , but everything is outdated so quickly around here....

All that information looks accurate. It's worth a shot, I know you will not regret it in the end as long as everything goes down well. 3.35 isn't a bad ROM itself. If you do decide to flash, be careful and record your MSL, MSID, MDN, and A-KEY and back up all your contacts using PIM Backup or similar. If you need help you can always PM me

Re: HELP, memory is way low and cant uninstall

Well with the pocket CM being installed multiple times.. I.E. older version and newer version on the website it says to "Make SURE you uninstall the old version before upgrading" so.. you are pretty much up the creek without a paddle on that one...

Re: HELP, memory is way low and cant uninstall

I am convinced that when I install and removing programs i actually permantely loose ram. I use SPB mobile shell and Diary only and I use to hover around 22mb free down to 20 mb after a full day. Now after installing and removing multiple programs, completely removing the programs, cleaning the registry, etc, I boot to 20 mb with around 17 free after a long day. I see the all of the excess bloat is found in my "device.exe" and "filesys.exe" processes. The others are about the same as always.
