This notification can be WAV, WMA, MP3, 3GP(sound only).

And usually reside in \windows or \my documents folders. (unless otherwise noted in the registry)

I thought alerts had to be WAV? I know rings can be MP3's but didn't think that about alerts.

They reside randomly throughout the windows folder. If you are wanting to add sounds you add them to the windows/rings folder.

With my 6700/6800 they were, I think this was more of a wm5 thing. I was still a noob, er kitchens weren't available back then. But with wm6/wm6.1 you can set the above. I suppose I'm waiting for wm7 so it will hopefully play videos as your ringer! (not just sound from video)

I know my text message notification is set to "\my documents\SFS-a new text message is available!.mp3"
