Symbol pad active by default. Why?

I recently noticed everytime I do a soft reboot, my Sympol Pad is the defualt input medium (as opposed to the keyboard like it's always been). I don't know how this happened or why it happened, but I want the keyboard to be the default input method. Can any one tell me how to change it back?
