QuicklLauncher Icons - changing

I've change the programs on the 5 quilcklauncher icons on this Today plugin - but now I'm trying to figure out how to change the icons to match the programs. One is File Explorer and another one is Google Maps. The each have their own icons on the program screen so their icons files must be in there somewhere.

But it appears the quick launcher icons must be in "ql photos.bmp" format for example.

Any ideas how to use the same icons which come with the programs one maps to a quicklauncher button?
