Have a look at this http://www.alternet.org/rights/66846/

Re: Family Locator app?

The OP of this topic is looking for software recommendations not advice on his parenting style. Back off the comments of parenting techniques and keep your responses to software recommendations. If you don't have any recommendations then just don't post on this topic.

Yes I want this on my son's Katana, but hate to give Sprint anymore hard-earned coin than I already do. We need something for non-PDA/smart phones.

If more parents took a more active role in parenting their children, we'd have a lot less problems in society today. And unfortunately, I'm not rich so my wife and I have to work. Things like this are the only way I can maintain a more active role in parenting them.

So you guys can sit on your high horses all you want. Me, I'll just keep doing whatever I can to do the best job possible parenting my children.
Kudos!!!. I am a single-father w/ a 15 year-old son and I completey agree with you and thank you NinjaMom for keeping this thread on topic.

Actually.... you do have GPS, you just don't know it. All modern phones are mandated to do e911 services, which means that they have some form of location services built-in.

For example, my wife has a LG Fusic flip-phone... it's not advertised as a GPS phone... but by installing mGMAPS http://www.mgmaps.com/ she now has a phone with full GPS capabilities unlocked.

The bottom line is that you have to find an app that knows how to talk to the phone's internal location services. If I knew of one that was "stealthy" I'd make a recommendation but I'm not aware of anything at the moment.
