Final word on audio out?

I have read that the Mogul hardware won't support audio out with the cable provided by HTC/Sprint. Do we need to get an additional cable with a mic built-in or is there a fix that will enable us to use the cable that we already have?

Just waiting to figure this out before I buy another one. I am on 3.35.
