If you do that, then Sprint will know you have a cloned ESN on the network, and can, and should, call the police to have you arrested...

Cloning an ESN is illegal in the USA... Unless you are an authorized repair center, you cannot legally change/modify/manipulate an ESN... PERIOD...

I really don't see an issue with that, I am paying for the account, minutes still get used and Sprints gets their money. Now if I was stealing an ESN from someone other account, that would be a different story.

The networks fraud prevention works in such a way that having two devices on at the same time with the same esn WILL trigger a flag. They will investigate the matter, its just a matter of when. This is how they prevent you from being cloned by a criminal looking to use your long distance. It's not about taking rights from you but protecting the rights you have which are more important.

I only listed the method of changing a ESN, but to make this work there are several things which must be cloned, and they will vary based on carrier as well. In general if you don't have enough reason to do this to search down the info you need you really shouldn't mess with this. It can and will get you in trouble if you make a mistake and leave 2 devices on with the same esn.

If you really did want to do this, you need to clone esn, msid/mdn, vision user name, password, hdr pass (dmu). And then destroy the original device. Typically it would be best to buy broken phones to take a ESN from as they are already near worthless.

HaHa always a clown in the bunch. Like this cat has never ran a stop sign. I pay for my phones and if I dont want to break a $500 phone out on a boat fishing ,I am doing no wrong takeing a razor linked to my account. Now if I wanted to give one to my ol lady that would be shaddy.

This was my intention, with ATT I was able to switch sim cards between my 8525 and my crap phone whenever I went out (I have a habit of loosing phones over the weekends) If only Sprint had an option on their website to switch ESN's.....

They do actually. Get on the ensamble billing system and the website will allow you to "update" your phone to another esn. This esn cloning should be a last resort. It really is more complicated that most people think.

Im on the ensamble billing system and I tried switching my mogul to my touch but couldn't. I had to call and they say it was because of my plan and they had to do it manually which they did. I have the Sero Plan with the Power Plan. I wasn't sure if it was because of SERO or the Power but they had to do it.
Ive read a post on this site that said if you change phones even if you bought it on your own, the date of when you can receive a updated free phone changes also. I haven't confirmed this just FYI.

That's correct, they reset your new phone date, but that's irrelevant, if you call retentions and they see your contract is nearing expiration regardless they can offer you the discount. So ignore that. I personally would rather always pay full price and be able to jump carriers at will.
