I agree with neodorian, it does seem to take longer for the keyboard lights to come on with the new ROM than it used to.

I did have the issue with the front lights not coming on unless it was on external power, but it turned out to be user error - I had the setting for the backlight too low on the battery side so it wasn't turning on any of the front lights or the keyboard. Moved it to 10% or 20% and it resolved the issue.

Re: Keyboard backlight not turning on after upgrade

The sensor setting has no effect since I upgraded to the new official ROM

This is weird. When I play with the slider for the backlight brightness on battery power the keyboard lights will flicker on each time I move the slider and then go out again a fraction of a second later.

They still will not stay on.

At least I know that they physically work. This then points to software or settings with the new ROM.

Re: Keyboard backlight not turning on after upgrade

Just a follow up as well. They will flicker on everytime I tap the screen or push a hardware button. It so fast that it is only a fraction of a second.

I am starting to wonder if this is a phone issue or a ROM issue. This is a replacement phone when I did not have an XP machine to unbrick my phone from the dreaded 238 error when I attempted to upgrade my previous phone.

Un-checking the auto-sensor fixed mine before and after the ROM update.

Have you tried a hard reset or reflash yet?

That setting had worked for me previously with the old ROM. However, with the new ROM regardless of whether I have the checkbox selected or not I don't get the backlit keyboard unless I have the power plugged in.

Nope. Knowing this is a step in the process of trying to fix it is why I wanted to get a feel if most people have the problem or most people do not.

I just did a full backup this morning in case I did it this evening, so it won't that big of deal to do.

Re: Keyboard backlight not turning on after upgrade

So....I went from no lights.....to flickering lights whenever a button is pushed or the screen is tapped....to working perfectly!

Let's just hope that those steps don't go in reverse order too!!!!

Re: Keyboard backlight not turning on after upgrade

I have had the same problem. I did all the steps said in this thread. I did a hard reset, soft reset, uncheck the box, and tried the slider but my backlight will not come on. I think I am going to take the phone back to the store. As I have tried every possible idea... If anyone else can think of something it would be great as everyone knows how horrible tech support for sprint is.
